View Full Version : A.R.M.S. #38EX Swan Sleeve and EOTech
Anyone mount an EOTech on a Swan Sleeve? Any problems, difficulties...does it work OK?
The reason I was thinking of the ARMS solution is because it comes with a flip up rear site at a reasonable price...are there better solutions out there?

I've never seen or heard of this mount until I read your post, did a search to check it out. I'd rather have a seperate BUIS and mount so I could move things around if need be. Seems if it was a good idea we would see mention of it on the forums. I also suspect it would look a bit cluttered and goofy.

Dude, no offense, but if you've never heard of a Swan Sleeve before now, then you've been under one seriously big rock.
The Swan's been around for probably 4-5 years that I know of. It is similar to GG&G's F.I.R.E. rail.
Aimpoints used to be the primary optic; when using a sleeve, it allows the user to mount the sight in a more "forward" position. This is desired by many users. It also allows most mounts to be used without the spacers that are often necessary when mounting directly onto an A3 receiver.
Another point of the sleeve is to allow the use of multiple optics; i.e. a PVS-14 in conjunction with an Aimpoint w/ NV settings. Those two things won't practically fit on the receiver alone; the sleeve gives room to uncluster the set-up.
Lastly, by integrating the BUIS into the rail, well, I think it is a good decision. Everything is there and is solid. You mention that stuff may need to be "moved around" but I honestly don't see why you would want to move the sleeve for any reason when it is your base for optics.
I have an ARMS #38-S-EXT-MOD and it's pretty sweet, IMHO. It provides for the most stable set-up on any rifle with a RAS. The sleeve expands the top of the rifle and bolts onto the RAS in three places; it also secures to the receiver, of course. By having something like this, I can mount a PAQ-4, PVS-14, an Aimpoint, and/or a 3x magnifier.
Anyway, some may like the idea, some may not. If there's a RAS on the rifle, then one can simply skip the sleeve and mount an optic on the RAS if they want it further forward. My justification for doing what I did -- because I can. ;c

None taken. I've been into AR's since the ban sunset and it's the first I've seen it. I did quite a bit of research on Eotech/Aimpoint and BUIS's and never did anybody mention it.
Where does the rear iron fall when you put your Eotech on it? Bottom third?
OK, don't hijack my thread here guys...can you mount an EOTech on the Swan Sleeve?

Of course you can. However, since you are adding nearly 1/2" to the platform, you are going to be that much higher above your front sight post.
If you want to co-witness, then this is a no-no. If you want your FSP to appear in the bottom section of your EO's window, then you're good to go.
The other option is to skip the sleeve altogether and mount your EO solely to the receiver and get a BUIS all to itself.
Here's what an Aimpoint looks like on top of a #38:
