View Full Version : $11 Mags are back
$11.00 Mags are back at TAPCO. I just ordered 5. ;f
http://www.tapco.com/product_information.asp?number=MAG0999&back=yes&dept=198&last=21
i already got 10, so i am good to go. But for those who need ar mags, these are top flight. Light weight, nice finish, feed great. Tapco ships pretty quick too.
This order puts me up to 20, which I think is plenty. I have those Magpul anti tilt followers on all of them and I like those alot too. I'm going to try them on a couple of my 20 rounders and see how they work.

Don't waste your money. Tilting never was an issue with 20's because they aren't curved.

That makes sense. Thanks! :)

I'm thinking of tossing it out. Poor crappy magazine!! :soap:

What brand?
Also, was it one of the chopped down curved LaBelles made to be a 20 rounder?

I'll have to dig it out tomorrow and let you know.
It's a straight (non-curved) 20 rounder. It caused a mis-feed and a deep gouge on a .223 round.
I'm sticking to my 30 rounders so far.
I have 10- 30 rounders, and I just placed an order for these 10 Tapco D&H 30 round magazines. Man can't have enough magazines or ammo. ;a

I predict my piggy bank is about to have a horrible accident.
I've got two 20 rounders. One is a Bushmaster curved mag and the other is a Colt straight mag.

The Bushmaster is most likely one of the 20rnd LaBelles I was referring to. I'm not sure if you would need a green follower in that or not. Maybe.

You could be correct. The Bushmaster mag is curved and LE/GOVT use only marked. It already has a green follower. I will most likely replace it with the Magpul, as I have to get some more for the new D&H mags from TAPCO anyway.

These are really good quality magazines. I think you will be pleased. The Teflon coated mags are about the best you can get, except for the HK mags, and they are around $50 each I think.
Where can you get good 20 rounders?
Don't see many of them around.

Best place to look is the ar15.com EE.

Gorelicks - I looked at my 20 round mags, and there are absolutely no markings on them. They are aluminum mags though, with gray film.
With this order I'll have a total of ~30 30 round mags, or ~900 rounds fully loaded.
Think I'll need more mags for a while?

AR15.com equipment exchange, as GoreLicks said, is the best place. I know www.cmmginc.com sells black teflon coated 20 rounders which are identical to the Bushmaster ones, except for color. Gunshows seem to be a good outlet for me too.

I didn't see them on there.
ETA: Oops, my mistake, you are correct. Thanks.

Hi guys - some questions:
aimsurplus has orlite mags for $11 - how do they compare against these?
What is the preferred material for magazines for reliability/longevity?
thanks!

last one
I just received the five I ordered the other day. That brings me up to 20! ;f
I've had bad luck with Orlites.
The interior sometimes has a window-screen-like metal exposed on the front-side interior. The nose of the bullet drags on the window screen, and causes a malfunction.
I don't know what is the source of AIM's Orlites. But, I'm pretty sure a bunch of the Orlites that came into the US not long ago were REJECTS.
I ordered several from a vendor, and I sent them all back because they were crap.
My favorite foreign mousegun mags are the British steel mags.
Aluminum 30-round mags tend to crack in the upper rear shoulder area. Twenty round mags don't have the shoulder. So they can't crack.
Found some twenty round DPMS mags for $13. Ad was in the Shotgun News and the gal I spoke with said they were USGI.

Are these mags marked "LE only"?
It doesn't say on the website but I am assuming they are since they DO go through a lengthy description of the AWB sunser and how markings don't matter anymore.
Can anyone who has purchased some confirm this?

On the baseplate, after the manufacturers markings are the words:
Restricted Law Enforcement Government Use Only.
I ordered 13 last on Friday, I got tracking info that shows they'll be here Wednesday. Not bad for standard shipping.
BTW, they are out again.........
Out of Stock
Expected: 10/28/2005
I'll probably order another 10 for me in a few weeks.................
