I have read every thread on every forum that i could find with google on custom glocks, I have been out of competition for 13 years and I am going to start up again. I am going to build a 9mm major open gun on my G 34. Thats the easy part. Now, I have read about lightening the trigger can cause soft striker problems, mounting a optic on a rail can cause ejection problems, if you buy a slide mounted optic they wont last, some people have said to keep the comp light, (my guess would be to reduce nose weight) and there is so much out there now I dont know which way to go.
So a couple of questions that are still bugging me.
Comp and barrel, for shooting 9mm major I want to stay away from the ported barrels and go with a comp, I have found several to choose from. for 9mm major I do I need a lot more ports? more is better? or would the KKM 4 port barrel kit do as good as anything else?
Trigger, there are quite a few guys out there will put a custom trigger in for a few bucks and get anywhere from 1.5 to 3.5 lb results. are there drawbacks to doing this?
I own a aimpoint, like the sight picture of a c more and like the slide mount feature of a the doctor optics, I am nervous about a high mount with the aimpoint and c more, but I am nervous about the reliability of the slide mounted optics.
The thing that I need most is reliability, I know I can shoot whatever configuration that I end up with as long as I practice with it, but I am trying to eliminate the trial and error thing that I always spend my money on. Sorry for the book, any wisdom from your personal experence would be appreciated.
