View Full Version : K9 vs P9 impressions?
Considering these two along with the XD9.
Have the problems with the polymer frames on the P9's been worked out for the most part? Am I still better off with the K9?
Will the P9 have the better trigger since I guess every Kahr gets an Elite trigger except the K9?
I thought all Kahrs had nice DA triggers that resemble a tuned S&W revolver?
I may also consider the T9, but The K or P series seem like a good do-it-all size. More concealable than the Sig Pro I was looking at, but should be just as good for defense I'd think.
I bought the K9 because I did not like the feel of the polymer of the P9. It is a little heavier, but I would not trade for anything. It is a great carry gun and I really like the trigger.

So how do you carry your K9? When my Kahr was in the shop (no pun intended), I was carrying my Wilson K40 around in my pocket with the same #3 Uncle Mikes Pocket Holster. Felt like a brick.
I have had a P9 covert that I stupidly traded to a narc officer for his brand new G27. I liked the P9, but recoil on the +p's was something you had to expect, and a firm grip was a necessity. But it carried so easily. I like the Glock's, but the Kahr shot and pointed better for me. Just came across a K9 (blued)that I snatched up. First 7 shots on pepper poppers at 40 yards resulted in 7 down. Sweet!!
Yes, it is heavier than the polymer one I had, but recoil even with +p isn't an issue, and with a quality IWB holster , and a proper belt, I barley notice it's there.
Never again be without a K9.

I carry mine in an Alessi WSDT (with a good belt of course). It's very stable, comfortable, and conceals very well. And I don't even notice the weight of the gun.
The K is NOT a pocket gun.
I just bought a P9 Covert and like it a lot. I have fired 500 rounds through it so far in the few weeks that I have had it. I have pocket carried it and carried it IWB. It has been great so far. I can't comment on the K models except that I found them pretty heavy and I really wanted something that I could pocket carry. The P9 has a great trigger is very slim and very accurate. I don't think that I would ever sell it.
i picked up a p9,
it replaced my g23 as a everyday carry gun.
the p9 is very accurate and reliable.
it conceals very well, especially with a fist kydex imb holster.
the p9 has very good sights,
the trigger is smooth, think really nice s&w revolver.
i am very impressed with it...put it this way....
i own hk's,glocks, beretta's and colt,my everyday carry is the p9.
