USMCsilver 10-01-2005, 16:25 Planning on replacing the handguards? Also, what kinda scope is that? Jerome 10-01-2005, 16:29 Maybe. Not too worried about color at the moment. This will be more of a plinker than anything else. Its a cheap NcStar 4X scope. OutintheWoods 10-01-2005, 18:16 Very handy just like it is. I actually like the contrast. Is that an illuminated retical scope? If so very nice and handy for precision work 24/7. I doubt you worry much about looters. Jerome 10-01-2005, 18:20 Not illiminated. It's only a $30 scope. OutintheWoods 10-01-2005, 18:24 Originally posted by Jerome Not illiminated. It's only a $30 scope. You need something that glows if you envision this as a possible SHTF weapon. It's just a glorified noise maker at night, except at very close range. This rifle has alot of potential, but is quite capable as it is with the addition of a decent low light sight. Jerome 10-01-2005, 18:30 I'm thinking of a red dot scope of some sort.....maybe Aimpoint. The scope thats on it, would only be for plinking around and shooting pumpkins. :) I've got a nice BUIS for it that works quite well, also. USMCsilver 10-01-2005, 18:37 Originally posted by Jerome I'm thinking of a red dot scope of some sort.....maybe Aimpoint. Aimpoints ROCK! http://webpages.charter.net/usmcsilver/images/aimpointlove.jpg OutintheWoods 10-01-2005, 18:38 Originally posted by Jerome I'm thinking of a red dot scope of some sort.....maybe Aimpoint. I'm quite fond of it. It's very capable of turning a good rifle into a great rifle 24/7. G37 Commando 10-02-2005, 07:30 Originally posted by OutintheWoods I've got an Eotech. I'm quite fond of it. The 65 MOA reticle rocks for high speed CQB shooting, and the 1 MOA dot is far superior to the Aimpoint's 4MOA dot at distances. sjfrellc 10-02-2005, 21:38 Where did you get your NCstar and what model is it? I assume it works well. Jerome 10-02-2005, 22:00 Came with the gun. All it says on it is "4X30" Its fairly bright, and it's OK for an in expensive scope. And a white light for target i.d.... Jerome 10-04-2005, 18:51 What are the advantages and disadvantages of the "open" type sights like the Reflex and Eotech, compared to the ML2? Macros73_On_Road 10-04-2005, 20:20 If you're going for that "I pimp my Honda" feel, put a BSA red dot optic on there instead of an Aimpoint. $30 or so. ;) Jerome 10-04-2005, 20:25 Nah, I'd rather have something of quality. Can anybody answer my comparison question? OutintheWoods 10-04-2005, 21:57 Originally posted by Jerome What are the advantages and disadvantages of the "open" type sights like the Reflex and Eotech, compared to the ML2? Advantages; No muzzle side signature on the ET. No tube. Eotech's retical, which is easier to find and faster IMO. 65 MOA ring, 1 MOA dot which equals greater precision at distance. Disadvantages; Less battery life. The AA Eotech is 1100 hours with lithium AA cells on setting 12 (medium). The aimpoint is from 1000-10000 hours on lithium cells. Eotech only waterproof to 10 or 33 feet. Buttons on the eotech somewhat more difficult to use. All that being said the Aimpoint and the Eotech are both excellent quality tactical gunsights. I would feel very well armed with either. And I do. I own an Eotech 512 AA. vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
