View Full Version : entry level FA
Guys, how could I purchase a Full Auto receiver or FA auto sear on the cheap? I am talking about fully registered and legal stuff here. What would be the cost on an entry level FA gun and possibly a DIAS for an M16/AR15 type gun? Thanks for the help.

You can get a M16 style RR gun for $7500+. It will not be name brand, but it will be FA. DIAS will be a lot more, maybe $10K.
Could someone explain what a DIAS is?

One of three methods to obtain a legal full-auto M16-type weapon.

It's the acronym for "drop-in auto-sear", basically a back-door (mechanically-speaking) way of converting an AR-15-style rifle with some FA parts to full-auto. It still requires an M16-style carrier to engage a lug on the DIAS once the bolt is home and rotating to the locked position. An even simpler way of doing the same thing is known as a "lightning link".

First off since you want cheap, I will assume you are new to this, Cheap went out in 1986 when production was banned.
So after you get over being cheap, bring your wallet to the Knob Creek shoot in a couple weeks in your own state. You will find every weapon you could ever want for sale there. Bring about $20,000 to spend and you can come away with a couple usable pieces.

Your car in 1986 cost you $11,000.00 and now 20yrs later is worth less than $1000,00 a machinegun in 1986 cost you $1000.00 and now is worth $15,000 so by being cheap we actually stayed poor.

If you want cheap, think Mac-10 or Mac-11 ~ $3000 range.

Thanks for the detailed info!
Thanks guys. When I said "cheap" I meant relatively cheap. If money was no object, how easy would it be to aquire a DIAS for a m-16?

If money is no object, I will sell you my DIAS right now for $100,000.
(no underbidding me please, another one will be born in a minute).;f
EDIT:
No offense intended, but my point is true. Go out and offer significantly more than the current price DIAS are being sold at, and you will have one same day.

Cite one example of a M16 RR selling for $7500 anytime in the past two years (save for tales from gun shows or sales involving friends of friends)
I think that price is about $1500 short.

Anyone know where there are specs available for the lightning link? Not that I intend to make one, just curious.
Just Google "Lightning Link" thats how I found it

If you posted a want to buy add on one of the major NFA boards at 7K would might find a Link, safe/semi auto only, at about 10k you might get a hit on a DIAS for sale, I think you could get a non Colt or Colt SP1 conversion for just under 10k.
Waiting will only cost you more.
