not being anal, just seein if im the only one or not.
i got a long guide rod from CGR. tungsten that extends to the muzzle. after about 700rd. or so. about 1" from the muzzle end of the guide rod is a "gouge" or something. looks like where their was some spring bind or it hits the slide?? you can definatly feel it with your finger. hasnt caused any failures yet. just curious why its there. i will try to get some pics up soon....
I remember reading a thread over at brianenos.com about people having wear on their tungsten guide rods. The consensus seems to be that tungsten guide rods wear quickly up to a point and then ceases. Do search and get the whole story. As I remember, they said not to worry about it. JohnH

I use a "captured rod" plastic washer with my "extended" Tungstun rod in my G34. It seems the plastic washer takes the pressure of the spring and transfers it to the slide better, instead of the side of the recoil rod. The hole in the slide for the recoil rod is not a hole in the G34, it's more like a keyhole into the barrel hole. I would like to try a cup type seat to see if I can lessen the "stiction" even more. My slide seeems to cycle easier with the plastic washer in place because it guides the recoil rod better.

I have 2 of the Extended Tungsten guide rods from THE Accessories that had been purchased from CGR several years ago. All of the Guide rods show the wear that you mentioned in your post and like JohnH stated it does stop after x amount of rounds.
Note these guide rods have been used in USPSA/IPSC competition and have subjected to 10's of thousands of rounds and they are still going strong.

It is normal for the long rods. They will wear a bit then stop.
