View Full Version : Elite trigger installation question
I just ordered the parts from Kahr to install the elite trigger in my 97 K-9. My question is does it make any difference which direction I tap out the trigger pin? I imagine I would go left to right as seen when holding it muzzle downrange. Any comments would be appreciated.^2

URSE, the Kahr trigger pin can ONLY come out left to right as its right end has a larger head on it. ^c
Thanks for the info. That will help out alot.

My pleasure!
Michigun I tried to get the trigger pin out of my 97 K-9 like we were talking about but no dice. A brass tap and a dead-blow hammer wont touch it. I have managed to marr up the side a little bit but that is pretty much it. Just to be clear here the trigger pin comes out the same way as the cocking cam pin or opposite? Looking at it the right side of the pin appears to have the bevel. And it looks like it would come out the same way as the cocking cam pin. I am clueless....please help!

URSE, the trigger pin is VERY tight! (So much so that I suggest replacing the old one with a new one after the old one has been beat out.)
I got it done. Funny thing though is the pin came out right to left. There was no flange/shoulder on either end of the pin. And the new pin I ordered will not fit because the shoulder would prevent it fron seating flush. The old pin was just as tight going back in and I do not forsee a problem. I guess the older Kahr's were made a little different. By the way while I was detail stripping the upper I noticed a little Rubber buffer between the back plate and the Steel striker spring guide. Is this piece necessary? It is in pretty decrepid shape. And I don't think Kahr even makes the steel guides anymore much less the little buffer. I guess I could just cut a piece of rubber or maybe use a rubber washer.
By the way thanks for your help a little steel wool and some flitz and we are ready to rock. The trigger seems a little heavier but much smoother and shorter.

I have polished the hell out of my trigger and interals of my slide. My pull on my E9 is 6.75 lbs with over 10,000 rounds and thats on the original springs except the recoil spring. Currently I have ordered heavier striker and mag spings and recoil springs and factory springs for the rest of the pistol. I thought they we due. As far as the elite trigger I have considered changing mine over but decided to wait for now. I just prefer the standard pull and have gotten quite use to it. Later on this coming year I am doing a complete make over of my E9 and at that time I will change it over to the elite trigger because at the same time I will be getting a MK9 Elite so I am setting them up to have the same triggers then. I can tel;l you the more you shoot yours the smoother and better the trigger will feel. Hope that helps
The first Kahr I shot was a buddies MK9 Elite. I picked up my K9 used at a gun show. I love the way it felt in my hand but the trigger pull just seemed so long it has taken a little getting used to. I just installed all new springs a new extractor the elite trigger and a front night sight. I gave all pieces a polish job and I haven't had a chance to get to the range but have been dry-firing it every since I got it back together. This friday I plan on putting at least a couple hundred rounds downrange and hopefully after that it will be living on my hip.;f

That is odd! Must be an older Kahr thing!

Yup, I've seen those in several different Kahrs now... my K9 has one, but my Covert doesn't.
I recall hearing that Kahr doesn't use them anymore.
If you're not going to reuse the old one I'd get another from Kahr before I'd use anything lying around the house... I'd personally go without before I'd do the latter. The striker area is just too important IMHO!
I left the buffer in the gun. I sent an e-mail to Kahr inquiring about a replacement. I was worried because it is in pretty bad shape. Although, I am probably not gonna be stripping the upper all that often. I am just pretty anal about my things being in as good shape as possible. As usual your input is greatly appreciated.^c
