I'm sure others here already do this, but I found a great covert case. I went to my local Sam Ash (discount musical merchandise) and bought a nice gig bag (soft case) for an electric guitar for $30.
It's nicely padded, has two external pockets, and holds my AR, six 30-round magazines, six 20-round magazines, Bore-snake, LULA, and extra batteries for the Eotech. I have only the 30-rounders loaded, so the weight and distribution even feel like an "axe". :)

Got any pics?
Does this case have internal tie-downs/velcro straps?
Let us know how well it works for ya...

Here's the outside from the website:

No tiedowns inside. I've shaken it around some and the rifle seems to not move around a whole lot even without straps. I think it would be pretty easy to add velcro tiedowns of some sort, which I think I'll try.
There is about 5"-6" inches of room at the top of the case (end of the barrel - I have a 16" with a collapsible stock) so I think it would fit a fixed stock A2 with a 20" barrel.
The bottom pocket is big enough to hold the six 30s. There is a smaller flat pocket on the outside of that one that holds the LULA, boresnake, etc. The pocket on the neck hold the six 20s. The other nice thing is that, in addition to the conventional carrying handles you'd expect, it also has backpack straps, which I think would be useful in an evacuation situation.
