View Full Version : PM9 trigger a little stiff, any way to fix.
My PM9 has about 300 rounds through it without failure. But the trigger is really stiff. My friends P9 has a much smoother trigger, it's easier to pull, and I'm much more accurate with it.
Will my PM9 trigger loosen up, or is there a way to give it a smoother trigger.
It's a great little gun, but the trigger needs work.
Thanks

Well, there are 3 things you can do 1st without resorting to replacing parts… the 1st one is to highly polish the entire striker/firing pin, the 2nd is to highly polish the entire "striker block" & the 3rd is to pop off the side grip panel & polish as much of the outside facing trigger bar as you can. (Inspect the inside surface of the grip panel for to make sure there isn’t signs of the trigger bar rubbing it… if there is, also polish that out.)
Your PM9 will smooth out over time, but you can REALLY speed that up with some polishing! ^c
By the way, how many rounds does your buddy have through his P9?
There is also a “reduced power striker spring” available, for the Kahr, from Wolff Gun Springs, but I’d try the above 1st & then move on to replacing parts next before going to a lighter striker spring.
He's put a couple hundred through it, but he bought it used, so we have no idea how many are actually through it. It looked real good though, very little wear. I don't think it was used too much before he bought it.

Do you have any more information about how to do this. Pictures, diagrams, etc.

Yup, sure do… for getting to the striker look at the main page here in the “Kahr Club”… at the top in a “sticky” you’ll find some “detail strip” instructions for the Kahr’s upper. ^c
For popping off the grip panel just find a real small rod/nail/etc. & tap out the grip panel’s pin from the left side on the grip… just get it started & you’ll be able to pull it the rest of the way out from the right side of the grip.
For the actual polishing I like to use a Dremel tool, a felt polishing wheel & Flitz or Semichrome polishing compound… while you’re at it you might as well polish the whole barrel (including the feed ramp), the extractor & all of the parts found in the extractor tube… I even polish all of the springs. :) (A Q-Tip will allow you to polish the inside of the striker channel/tube, the inside of the safety block cutout & the inside of the extractor tube itself. ^c)
Thanks, but I don't think I'll be able to do it. I don't have a dremel, and I have an agrp on the grip, so I can't get that off.
Oh well, thanks for the info. Guess I'll just have to shoot it more to loosen it up.

Of course that will work too. ^c
To me, shooting it is the best way to loosen a daily carry piece. You will also be working out your trigger finger, which is a plus.
I try to leave daily carry guns stock, except for my Glocks. I put in a NY1 Trigger, and nightsights. Good luck breaking in your trigger.
