Hey everyone,
Finally bought a PM9 last week and had to wait until this morning to get to the range. It about made me crazy waiting that long.
Anyway I was very impressed. Ran 50 rounds of FMJ practice ammo through it and at the end ran one mag of gold dot 124 gr hollowpoint and one mag of golden sabre 124 gr hollowpoint. All ammo fed and fired without a hitch. Accuracy was impressive too.
I had one problem and that was the rear sight started drifting. It drifted all the way to the edge before I noticed. I thought I was pulling my shots to the left but it was the sight. Anyone else have this happen? I was thinking about putting some locktite on the sight and setting it where I want it. But I'm also going to put some night sights on as soon as I can afford it. Will the locktite make it impossible to remove the rear sight when I get the new ones.
I think I'm really going to like being a part of the Kahr family.

Welcome, and congratulations on the purchase of your new pm9! :) I just bought mine 2 months ago and i love it!
About your questions, this pm9 makes my second kahr pistol, i bought it brand new. My first kahr was (and still is) an E9. I bought the E9 used, not sure how old it is. Anyway, both the rear sights on my E9 and PM9 are the same design, and i have NEVER had them move on me. As a matter of fact, i think on the kahr web sites, on the page where they sell the night sights, they come with some loctite. So i am guessing thats probably what is used to put sights on our guns anyway. Although ive always though that the sights fit into the slide rather tightly with very close tolerance, needing special tools to install. Im surprised to hear that your sights moved on you.
I think you should be fine putting some loctite on there. Especially if its that loose by itself, you probably wouldnt have much trouble taking them back off to install tritium sights. Or of your that worried, just live with it until you can buy the tritium. Hope you get things solved. Good luck!

Call or email the Kahr technical support. They are very responsive and will let you know exactly what to do. Describe what is happening and this way you'll definitely not get stuck with the sights if you decide to upgrade to night sites. They built your gun so they'll definitely not steer you wrong, although i do have total confidence that the folks on this forum know what they are talking about so just think of it as extra care. After plopping down $600 I'd want to be sure.
+1 on calling Kahr.
I love my PM9, but would give the manufacturer a chance to fix it before I started "tinkering".
Good luck and happy shooting.

Thanks, I'll give them a call asap. This Kahr ownership could be contagious. I already own several glocks and a couple of wheelguns and now I'm looking at what model Kahr I want to buy next. I'd like to fondle one of the new 45's.
Thanks again.

I was super close to getting one of the new P45's but I think I'll wait until there are enough on the market for people to talk about them on these forums or enough people have put a few hundred rounds through them to see how they perform. It is very tempting though, what a great carry piece that would be!!

Absolutely I would love to have one but I'm like you about waiting. I'd like to see one or two production runs run through the ringer to make sure there are no bugs to be worked out. Then I'll get mine.
Funny how the initial first run of firearms, the one's that make it to the gun writers, be they kel-tec, ruger, kahr or whatever, never have any bugs and work flawlessly.
I bought one of the first Ruger 345's to hit the market after reading about them in a handgun magazine. Two months later after countless feeding problems I sold it...and I'm a Ruger fan too.
By the way I sold it cheap to a friend who knew about the problems and finally sent it back to Ruger for some part replacements. Now he says it is fine. But for me I'll never buy the first off the line of any firearm until they've had enough time to be rung out.

Yeah, that is funny. It's also wierd that they get paid by those same companies advertising the guns in the publication. I don't think there's a connection though </sarcasm>. ;)
