Everytime I hear Cabo I think of Sammy and that song from OU812 cabo Wabo. Plus he lives down there. Post pics if you get any good ones there. I'm getting married in Adventura one month from now.

Remember while you're there, that you aren't packing. I have that problem on the rare occasion that I'm not carrying, I think I'm packing - but I'm not! :(

What, you couldn’t find a vacation spot here in the US? ;)

Have fun, be safe. In case no one has mentioned it to you, DO NOT take any "toys" across the border.

Dress casual, don't take jewelry. DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING WITH YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY # ON IT. Take your passport, 2 credit cards, travelers checks and some cash. Nothing else is needed. Do not take your birth certificate (your passport is all of the ID that you need). There's a large black market for birth certs. (Wholesale prices about $8k). Buy a money belt to keep your stuff in (except for some cash). The ones from AAA or luggage shops are fine or do a Google search for money belts and you'll find lots of places to order from online.

Remember that the sun is much stronger there than in the Arctic where you live. Limit your exposure unless you really slop on the SPF45 *Cheryl Crow singing in the background*.;e ;a ;f

Again, have fun.

Never been to Cabo, but here is a site I like to check out when going to new places: Virtual Tourist (http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/North_America/Mexico/Estado_de_Baja_California_Sur/Cabo_San_Lucas-929099/TravelGuide-Cabo_San_Lucas.html). Many good tips like pre-arranging a taxi with the hotel before you arrive to avoid the steep taxi fees.

I guess 10 days south of the border is a good place to escape the humiliation that you are going to get this weekend.

And getting a hard time from someone else just is not the same ;f

GirlWithGlock
10-06-2005, 13:51
cj...;) I will post pictures for sure. :) You must be getting so excited!!!

AdminKY...I shouldn't have that problem quite yet as I have just begun to carry on a semi-regular basis. I can see that being a problem after carrying for awhile though!

Michigun...Well, my husband is the best man in a wedding that will take place while we're there so I guess what it amounts to is that there is no better place for this couple's wedding. ;) Although...I have wanted to go to Cabo for a long time now so it by no means hurts my feelings to be leaving the states for a vacation. ;f

No "toys"...good to know!!! ;f

YIKES!! I'm using my birth certificate and license to get back and forth. Didn't get the passport in time!!! ;P If I don't comment at GT sometime soon after the 20th, you'll know they didn't let me come back. ;f I plan to use a lot of sunscreen as I typically tan well (without getting burned) even when I do use an SPF 45 or even higher.

goblue...Thanks for the link! I'll be sure to check a bunch of stuff out there. We did already pre-arrange a hotel shuttle from the airport to the hotel. They said don't ride with anyone unless they are holding a sign with your name on it as the others will pretend to be the ride you pre-arranged.

Oh, and goblue...I think you should be the one heading down south of the border after this weekend; we'll know soon enough. ;) Also, lucky for you nobody has volunteered to cover my "give-goblue-*****" job while I'm away.

Imagine the look on airport security when they see a guy holding a sign that says "GirlWithGlock".

By the way, you don't need prescriptions for a lot of medications in Mexico, so be sure to visit the pharmacy to pick up Ambien and other stuff you or Mr. GirlWithGlock are too embarrassed to talk to the doctor about.

GWG,

Cabo is one of our favorite places to vacation. Lots of fun, sun, and partying. If you are into the nightlife, check out the El Squid Row for some seriously wild times, but things do start late there. Over on Medrano Beach, the Office has very good food, and the tables are right on the beach with a great view of El Arco. That whole strip along the bayfront has a lively atmosphere, with lots of water sports during the day. If you need any supplies, such as booze, food, lotion, etc., the local Costco has very cheap prices. Avoid the timeshare guys unless you have the time, want some free things, and want to see some very nice resorts. But remember, JUST SAY NO. And hey, if you can't shoot down there, then do lots of shooters. Have a great time!

Blacktails...definitely into the night life!! Looking forward to doing most of what you listed! :) I've heard to be careful of doing things like parasailing because every year people die from crazy things like crashing into buildings. Have you heard of that seriously happening? Did you parasail? Did it seem safe? I've parasailed once before (in Myrtle Beach) and want to do it again!

Babelfish says: "!Tengo much verguenza! The terrestrial gold squirrels jugan with mariquitas. !Que hurts! Towards another anus without brown jar. I need another olivida tequila for the pain."

Something tells me that I should be glad it couldn't translate the whole thing. ;g

EDIT: Crap. I knew I shouldn't ask, but I had my wife fill in the blanks. All I have to say is, goblue, that you are very disturbed. Squirrels & lesbians? ;P

I doubt that you'd have much trouble getting into the good ol' U.S. of A. My concern is that if you get ripped off, then someone may try to impersonate you. It happens ALOT! In the next few months, passports will be required for any international travel.:soap:

Ok, for the non-bilingual from the great white north:

ardillas terrestres = gophers (in the ground/earth squirrels)
mariquitas = girley men
jarra marron = brown jug

I'll let ChicaConGlock figure out the rest

GirlWithGlock;

Just to let you know, if you bring prescription medications back from Mexico, you need a prescription from an American licensed physician.

Also, the "Powers That Be" down in Ol' Corrupt, "Land of Mordida" Mexico have started arresting people buying prescription medications to bring back across the Border. They are now saying you need a Mexican Quack's prescription, then you need one to bring it to the United States from an American physician.

Personally I have no like, love or respect for Mexico. I live on the border, spent 3 months in Mexico City, and have been across the line numerous times. Now, I think we should nuke it.

Good luck GWG, hope all goes well for you. I just think you would've been better vacationing in the United States or Canada.

GirlWithGlock
10-07-2005, 22:26

Biker... I have no interest in any prescription drugs from Mexico. I won't even take prescription drugs that my own doctor tells me to take. ;i (Just about everything I have taken makes me sick to my stomach. I'd make for a very bad druggie.) Besides, my friend is a pharmacist. ;f

Aventura is a great place. Good luck and have fun. The rules are:

1.) Avoid the "informational" meeting like the plague. They try to get you into time shares.

2.) Specifically request Don Julio tequilla in all your drinks, if you drink tequilla. They have it and they'll do it every time but only if you ask.

3.) Don't take the guided/planned tours to other places. Take a cab from the front door instead. Much cheaper and you can come back whenever you want.

Anytime. My wife and I went earlier this year and had a blast there. To get a cab, go to the main entrance and ask for one. They push this little button and you can practically hear the tires squeal from down the road. They must wait in a lineup to be the next driver, it's rather humerous really. Anyway, there's a board that lists the prices for cab rides to all the possible destinations. Also, there's an exchange counter in the main lobby for Mexican currency and if you don't spend it all, you can convert it back to US dollars at the airport when you leave. DON'T let the driver tell you that other cab companies charge more so he'll cut you a deal for a "round trip". You'll never see him again and the other cab company is actually a little cheaper anyway. Don't be spooked if they pull off to the side of the road toward a shady looking shack. It's a checkpoint thing that seems odd but is actually normal. At the open markets, I'd say that probably 95% of Americans pay too much. A local that leveled with me said that they'll barter for stuff like shoelaces and he wasn't kidding in the slightest. Whatever they ask, you can buy for probably 25% or less of what they wanted outside of a few small items that were downright non-negotiable. The one trip you would be wise to do with the group if you decide, is the evening trip to the bars (Senior Frog's etc). It's a round trip deal and we didn't end up going but I'd have preferred the safety of the group and the bus if we had, especially at night. Enjoy yourself and remember to place an early morning towel on a couple of the chairs located somewhat near the swim up bar. The area of the pool that is furthest from the main lobby tends to be the party side and is alot more fun. The food is quite good but you'll be dying for a freakin cheeseburger when you get back! Have a great time and don't forget to leave all your stresses at home. You won't be needing them there.

Adios,
G4L

Hola Amigos!! Made it back safe and sound. Didn't get kidnapped, however I did get sick the morning I had to leave and ended up having to take an antibiotic to get better. It's a football trophy that goes to the winner of Michigan v. Minnesota football game. Michigan has won it 63 versus Minnesota's 22 times and it has been 16 years since Minnesota won. This year, Minnesota ***** slapped Michigan at the Big House and took home the jug.
