I just purchased a second hand LaserMax laser for my Glock 26. The original owner didn't have the installation manual and I've contacted LaserMax for set of instructions. In the meantime I've been trying install the laser myself. I've managed to remove the slide lock and replace it with the Lasermax slide lock/activation switch. I them replaced the recoil spring assembly with the Lasermax unit and it seems to work fine, except that the batteries are dying. The unit also came with another part, a special slide lock spring with a notched top. I'm guessing that this spring matches the notches on the Lasermax slide lock. How do I remove the original slide lock spring so that I can replace it with the new one? Thanks

First you must remove the slide lock (21) , to do this simply push it down and slide it out to the side.
With the slide lock out of the way, you can remove the slide lock spring (20) . I have just slid a small screw driver underneath the slide lock spring from the rear and lifted/pryed up with good results.
Hope this helps.

Wow, I never thought I'd get help installing a LaserMax from their competition. Don't worry though I'm also a longtime Crimson Trace user, I've got a LG-329 on order for my SIG P228. And when I was in the sandbox, I used a set of LG-302 on my M9. I just saw a LaserMax on eBay and decided to give them a try.
Thanks for the help. I used the tweezers on my Leatherman Micra and the spring came right out. I changed the batteries and the laser works fine now. I didn't know that the Lasermax took 4 batteries though. It cost about $13 to get new batteries whereas it only takes about $6 to get two new batteries for my LaserGrips. Maybe I'll stick with my Crimson Trace lasers from now on.

You might try and find a watch repair supply house and get the batteries ftom them, they run under a dollar apiece on average. That's what I did for the LaserMax in my G-36 and for my P94L.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I figured that there would be better places to find batteries at lower prices online. But when I used my laser in Iraq, I never even changed the batteries once. I'm guessing probably one battery change a year or so.
