View Full Version : Military Surplus Noob
I'm interested in getting an SKS and have found lots of great info here and other places. I'd like to get one from aimsurplus.com but I have a question on their policy.
When ordering a gun from aimsurplus.com can I go through my favorite dealer to make the purchase, using their FFL, or is it my name that has to be on the FFL?
I understand if I got my C&R license I could just send them a signed copy of my C&R. But is it worth it for just a couple of guns?

Lets see, the price of a C&R FFL is what, about $30? My local gun dealer does transfers for $20. So, if you buy more than 2 C&Rs, then yes, it would be worth it. Plus, theres the thrill that comes when the UPS guy drops a long cardboard box off at your front door. That alone is worth the price of admission.

Specks,
Whatever you do, DO NOT GET A C&R license!!!!!. The worst $30 I ever spent, as it has cost me over $600 thus far on firearms :) :)
Na, really it is a great investment as Deep Blue pointed out. Even for just a couple of firearms, you will save money, but I doubt you will stop at 2. The only downside to remember is the record kepping (buy the bound book from Brownells on your next order from them, it is like 3-4 bucks), and the slim chance that the ATF may want to review your records sometime, which is no big deal if you log each purchase when you make it.
OK, I just requested the paperwork to get a C&R. How long is the turnaround time after I submit the application? I've seen 6-8 weeks. Is this accurate?

Mine took around 30 days. That was a year and a half ago.
Completing the paperwork took, like, 4 minutes.
Thirty days for me as well, also about 18 months ago.
AIM is good people.
