I have a line on a gently used G21 for $300. I was thinking about picking it up to use as a Limited (or L10) gun in USPSA. Does anybody use one? Any pros or cons to it?
For $300, I may just get it anyway -- but if I can use it effectively for USPSA then it would be a bonus.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Bro,
For 300 id get the 21 anyway! but sure you can use it.
Good lim 10 gun. Small capacity for lim. Nice, soft shooting major PF gun.

I use a 21 in Limited and L-10. The 13 rd mags are not really good for Limited and the plus 2 aftermarket ext suck bad!
For $300 get it, and enjoy it!

Wow. For $300, I might even buy a .45.

I shot one for years in USPSA but that's beside the point.....any glock that's vaguely intact that you can get for $300 gets bought....period....end of story.
Their best feature is that they RUN.....that's a big benifit.
They also shoot softer than any other 45 on the line and they can throw a 45 caliber that can help you with calling shots.
That would be a great L10, or even a production gun! the $300 price tag is just an added bonus. So why havent you bought it yet?

Okay, okay...I put my name on the gun last night. It needs a new trigger spring -- should be here this week. As soon as it's in, I'll give the man my 300 clams and I'll be on my way to L10!
Thanks for all the feedback...it confirmed what I already suspected.
Now I just have to figure out how to break the news to my wife....

I use my G21 for Limited and Limited 10 exclusively... love it... you are at a small disadvantage shooting limited because of magazine capacity, but for indoor matches it never really has been an issue.
Heck, I even shoot a G21C with a Docter Optic in Open... yeah, I lose a lot when I shoot open!!
If you don't get the G21, let me know, I will buy it!!

I just bought one myself that I plan on using for L10 (USPSA) and CDP/SSP (IDPA). I'm going to have a Vanek trigger done and I just ordered the Dawson Precision Target sights for Glock.
BTW, this G21 will be replacing two custom single stack 1911's one that was built originally for Mike Dalton (Colt Frame/Caspian Slide) and an SV.

You are not going to believe the Vanek trigger, it's wonderful.

Oct_97,
I already have 5 of Charlies triggers but it will be the first on a g21/g20 size frame.

You know, I didn't like... I could never tell when it was going to break, and the reset seemed to "change" from shot to shot. But, I do have to admit, for target shooting, it really helps with accuracy.
The best trigger for me so far is a standard 3.5# connector, polished internals, and a striker spring with about 75K rounds through it! You do have to use federal primers thougoh... ;)

ryucasta,
Let us know how the vanek trigger turns out on the large frame, they are a bit more stubborn when working on the trigger system.

Well, I picked up the G21 from the range tonight. I had to wait for the trigger spring to get repaired. As an added bonus, I found out that when they sent it to Glock service, the replaced all the internals -- so basically everything inside except the barrel is new. They even replaced the sights. And just to make it sweeter, I have all the old parts as spares now!
So I walked out with a basically new G21 (6000 rounds through the barrel) for $300. I was definitely doing my happy dance! ^5
The only thing I have left to do is go shoot it -- the range was full tonight because they were holding a qual course. I plan on remedying that tomorrow. Lots of big holes on target!

I shoot a G21 in limited and I put Arrendondo extended mag bases on the 13 round mags that added 4 rounds to the gun. I can now start with 18 rounds in the gun and have 17 rounds on a reload. Sure its not 23 rounds of 40 s&w but 18 ain't bad.
I shoot my G30 in limited 10 and have done well. Mag changes are slower because of the short grip and having to move my hand out of the way but it's still fun to shoot.

the 21 makes a great limited 10 gun. I have mine set up that way but haven't gotten to shoot it as much as I want because I fell in love with my 24 for limited. I shot production to begin with but got tired of all the reloading. I will be teturning to lim. 10 with the 21, though.

Picked up my G21 over the weekend and installed the Dawson Precision Target Sights. Will be shipping it to Vanek Custom later today. Once I get it back I'll provide a report on the G21 trigger job.

Couple of days; unfortunately I just had a scare since FedEx had temporarily lost the package that I had shipped yesterday morning. They ended it up finding it this morning (Back of Truck) and it’s on its way to Vanek he should have it by tomorrow morning. Once I receive it I’ll provide a report.

Well that was quite a scare,UPS is usually the shipper that has a problem with "misplacing"packages/boxes,sounds like they found it pretty fast, maybe a driver or drivers are catching on to what Vanek does.
Don't know if you sent it overnight, but if you did, does FedEx offer free shipping if it doesn't get there in a certain time frame like USPS does.

How did you get 23rds in a 40cal 140mm mag? I've onlybeen able to fit 20rds into one.

I don't know about 23 rounds in Glock mags with the extensions but I have seen STI guns and others with 23 or so rounds in the mags and still be legal.
