It is not recommended by Glock, to put a 357 SIG bbl in a 2nd generation G23....If in doubt, call Glock and ask them........
G23 frames made before the Glock 357Sigs were introduced don't have reinforced frame rails to handle the stronger 357Sig load.

So someone enlighten me on the 3 different generations of G23 and how to tell the difference between them...
I have a 2nd generation model 32. Is the frame different from a 2nd gen model 23 40 cal.?
I know that there were very few 2nd gen 32's made.
Mine shoots great and is my favorite Glock pistol

Well, I've been carrying a Glock of one sort or another since about 1988. As I recall, it goes something like this:
1st gen: smooth grips (only light stippling on front & backstrap same as grip panel area)(Only 9mm's were imported to US.)
2nd gen: checkering on front and backstraps
3rd gen: finger grooves
Someone else, feel free to chime-in though...
3rd gen: finger grooves and acces. rail
