View Full Version : MMC adjustable rear Glock sight - any users?

I've discovered that I kinda like the "ball in a box" sight picture presented by Glock factory sights. Normally, I use the "three balls" aftermarket fixed and adjustable (Meprolight) night sights, but I'm interested in trying a really prominant white front dot in conjunction with an adjustable white-outline rear for daytime competition. The Glock plastic adjustable is entirely unsatisfactory, and there aren't a lot of other adjustable white-outline Glock rears to choose from. One it the MMC sight, which is drift-adjustable for windage and screw-adjustable for elevation. These have been around for years and I've read an occasional favorable review of them for pistols other than Glocks.
Any Gters out there have any experience with the Glock MMCs they'd care to share?
Thanks!

I currently have a set of MMC night sights on my Sig 229ST, standard three dot alignment. I also opted for the optional "teflon" finish which is actually a finish called "Bear Coat" put on by a man by the name of Bob Ford at Rocky Mountain Arms in Longmont Colorado. I consider MMC sights to be without a doubt the most well made and robust adjustable sight on the market. A little pricey, but then again the innards of these sights are only rivaled by Swiss watches. I find I can dial in just about any .357Sig load to make accurate hits out to 200 yards(silhouette targets) with these sights. Take the plunge Gary, you'll be happy you did.:) ;c

The large ears make them too busy.

Thanks for the input, Matt, but "busy" MAY not be a problem for me. Seeing a black front sight centered in a black notch with equal amounts of light on either side IS a problem for me! My "long-range" glasses don't allow a sharp view of the sights and my "Computer screen" glasses, while allowing a sharp sight picture, blur targets far too much at distances greater than 10 or 12 yards. I've found that prominant white dots (as on Meprolights) or white outline/white dot sights (like the stock Glock sights) allow me to align the sights without having them in sharp focus.
Ten or so years ago, a set of race cut Heinies might have been ideal for me, but they just don't "cut" it anymore. I'd recommend them to folks with younger, more flexible eyes, but I need another approach.

So just get new glasses made for shooting.
When I shoot I genreally look at the front, rear and the target all in a soft focus.
The problem I had with the MMCs is its almost like looking at 2 front sights with the ears acting like a large notch.

Well, sights cost less than new glasses--or ONE set of sights would cost less, but I've gone through a bit more than that! Seriously, my Plan B is to see if an optimetrist can cook up a compromise prescription which would give me a sharper sight image at arm's length than my distance glasses and a sharper image of the target than my computer glasses. (Question: has anybody tried this approach?) However, I don't need to replace my existing glasses yet, so I'm just working with the sights for now.
Note that Meprolights, with their highly visible inlaid rings, DO work for me. It's just that a pure white dot or outline is even more visible in daylight or when backlit.
Speaking of ears on sights, Matt, what about an AR-15 with ears on both back and front sights? Is that busy or what?

They are alittle bit but on those guns my brain kinda phases them out and I just see the ring and post.
I know of lot of guys that have specific shooting glasses. Just go to a freindly optomitrist and bring a gun with you. If possible do it outside so you have natural light.

The trouble I had with the rear MMC sights is that they are a pretty expensive piece of junk. Ran out of elevation, would not hold elevation, lock down screws would not stay put even with locktite, the tritium went out twice and customer service disappeared.
The good news is that there are a lot better quality sights on the market than MMC.
A very dissatisfied MMC customer, but very happy camper with the Bo-Mars from Custom Glock.

Bo-Mars would work for me--if they had a high-visibility front and white dots or outline rear (AND if they didn't hang off the rear of the slide on a Glock). Otherwise, they're black-on-black sights. I do appreciate your comments on the MMC sights, but I have heard different opinions--perhaps more folks will chime in.
I had a set and sold them because of the "ears" on the rear made it difficult to acquire quickly in gun games. I did not have any movement under recoil. MMC had good customer service while they were in Texas, but got "New Yorkish" after they moved to Vegas. Almost like talking to an HK rep.

Hve you considered a Dawson Adjustable with the FO dots front and rear?
I have MMC sight on 4 of my Glocks. I have had good luck with them. I shoot them in GSSF on my G26. I even surprise myself at how well I do.
Seems there is a difference with quality of newer MMC than older MMC. I have the older.
I like them!
