I've had 2 SBR's in the past and just rec'd my approved form for a SBR AR15. In the past, "barrel less than 16" and "OAL, less, than 32" have been acceptable. Also, 9mm, .223 and .22lr for the calibur have been OK.
This time, it was approved with the following conditions ".223 cal, 26" OAL and 10" barrel". From what I have heard, forms, such as mine have been recently returned, so I am thankful that mine was approved. I understand that BATFE is now wanting to know the "normal configuration" of the rifle. What I am unclear on, is can I use other length uppers such as a kitty kat 7.5" barreled upper? Or am I restricted to that caliber/configuration until I have BATFE ammend their registry so that their paperwork reflects this too?? By luck, a 10" upper was what I had planned on using mostly anyway but I never mentioned this on the form.
Has anybody dealt w/this first hand? I'm getting lots of good but conflicting info.
