View Full Version : It's Official: I'm a Stinkin' Gamer!

I've gone and done it.
I willfully and deliberately purchased a dropped/offset belt loop for my Blade-Tech belt holster (with a Tek-Lok).
Sunday, I used it in a USPSA pistol match.
I feel dirty and ashamed, and yet I plan to do it again!

The board is "General Competition Shooting & Events."
What's the problem?
I know of a big guy, a rules purist, who wears a vest that looks like the lining of an overcoat. It is a homemade item with huge waist pockets that seem to have more material than would be required for a stylish fit. It kind of makes them stay open and baggy. Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Must be an IDPA shooter.
I have a friend who is fond of putting the "gamer" tag on people. He used to shoot a Glock 21 or 22. Now he shoots a Glock 34. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Too pure for IPSC.
I am a gamer. I would like to be a better one. I readily admit it. I'm proud of it. I don't even try to hide it. When the new rule book came out, it was an opportunity. Full of dumb ideas, but an opportunity.
Don't feel dirty, just enjoy the sensation.
say it ain't so joe!!!
i don't know if my heart can take it.(by the way didn't carol look good with the belly shirt going on sunday?)

Didn't you notice it Sunday? I could actually get a firing grip without digging for the gun in my side! It was like doing the way everyone else does!
I was already a wicked and vile creature (for other reasons), but now I am using a "race rig." ;f

Hehe! No one was watching me for a few minutes, so I was able to be bad again. I'm pretty sure it looks pretty good to, which is, as you say, what counts! Ako ay guapo!

So far so good, but I've only used it for six stages (although one had three strings). It's pretty much what I expected in that it's a lot easier for me to get a firing grip quickly. I could always rip it from the holster pretty quickly, but sometimes it takes me a few extra tenths with my regular belt or IWB holsters to get a decent grip before I can pull the gun.
I forgot to check any of my draw times during the match, but I'll try to do that this weekend.

welcome to the club
Thanks!
Now ... before this goes any further, don't get crazy on me, guys. It's not like I'm actually going to practice or anything that might actually make me better. Practice between matches is, of course, cheating, and we can't have that. No sir, we cannot have that! ;f

Did you like it? It seems to work better on different builds than others.
I tried one for a match and it positioned the at such an angle that the muzzle was pointing at my leg, which I didn't like much. Ted

Hey, Ted:
So far, yes, I like it. It's the closest thing I've ever used to an actual race holster, and I'm beginning to understand (as opposed to believe others) why they are good tools for gun games.
It's not pointed at my leg any more than my other holsters do, so that's pretty much a wash.

[B]Welcome to the club!
Thanks! Who knows ... next week I might be sportin' a CR Speed Rig, and a Limcat the week after that! HAHA!
Actually, I think a Limcat with a gi-style, completely stock Officer's ACP would be neat-o.

I only tried one once at a match, and for me the holster did not run parralel to my leg, the grip of the pistol stuck off my body at an angle, which I found very annoying. I know some of the guys are using it for (IIRC) production class.
I am going to take your advice and try the bladetec quad mag pouch though.
Was hoping to break out the Pathetic Ancient Religion (1911) :) for a USPSA match this weekend, but have to do a boring honeydew trip to MD of all places.

Joe - we are shooting at Silver Creek this weekend (IPSC). Both Days ;f
And I refer to myself as a player not a gammer. (Wink, Wink)

I'm glad I could help! I do think the Comp-Tac would be easier to use, but the Blade-Tech is a lot less expensive, and you could actually use it for concealed carry if you chose. Kind of like a modern-day "Milt Sparks Six-Pack" for those who want to do the John "the Survivalist" Roarke deal with their brand new Detonics Combat Masters in their dual Alessi shoulder rigs. ;f

hehe ... apparently we know each other! I've either forgotten your userid, or ... I'm just dumb!
I wish I could make more of the matches down there, but we have too much happening up here! Saturday I have speed steel at AtlantaCC and Sunday USPSA at Terre Haute. I could conceivably beg out of the steel, but I'm the VP of WVPPS and the scores guy, so I have to be in Terre Haute on Sunday.
You should join us some time!
