Bench/Gun Rest - need advice

I am looking for a gun rest that will work with my SKS, M44, etc. when I visit the shooting range.

Besides shooting off-hand or prone, I'd like a nice bench rest for shooting, optics setup, etc., without emptying my wallet.

I've never owned one, so I'd appreciated some advice/links to some recommendations.

If you have limited budget but would like to have a nice "bench rest," you can consider getting a specialized sandbags, like "Bull's Bag."

These specialized sand bags will give you good stabilization and support necessary for most long range shooting, and they look more natural on the bench than the full complex bench rests with multiple arms.
