G19 "1" Barrel

I know that the "1" denotes the barrel change on the G19 a few years ago, but why did they change it so that the front area of the part outside the chamber is slighted ramped? Or rather, how did that change things?

I believe it makes the barrel tip down in a more positive manner after unlocking. In response to NYC complaints of function. The mod also included alteration to ramp and hood I think. Did a search and couldn't find much, you could ask Butch in the General Glocking Forum.
