What was your first machine gun and what drew you to it?
(i.e, it's history, performance, uniqueness, ability to change configuration, looks, collectability, price, etc..)

(i.e, it's history, performance, uniqueness, ability to change configuration, looks, collectability, price, etc..) My first was an S&W 76. The gun of "The Omega Man" and countless other '70s movies ("Prime Cut," "The Taking of Pelham One Two Three," "The Getaway," etc.), the price (it was one of the cheaper MGs at the time), the feeling of doing something slightly verboten, etc. These were things that all drew me to buy it and jump head first into the world of NFA. Sort of like getting your first piece of tail.

M16 as that is the gun of choice for our military. I also like the fact you can get so many different caliber uppers. As Lester said a lot of it was the verboten thing and the fact that when I take it out in public people usually freak out when they see somebody with a MG. It is amazing how many people think they are illegal to own period.
Last but not least my favorite part is when somebody calls LE and when they show up everybody has the look of that guy is going to jail. Then of course the shocked look on their face when the po po's just watch me shoot and do nothing.;f
It was a combination of having some friends with MGs, spending too much time at subguns.com, having money saved up for a computer, and knowing someone who had a MAC10 for sale.
I had gotten by that long without my own computer. I figured I'd be better off getting the gun, and I could continue to use the computers at school.
5+ years later, the gun has tripled in value. The computer I could have bought with that money would now be worth maybe $50. I feel pretty good about my decision.
