View Full Version : Want to buy a USP. But....
Last weekend I test fit a full size USP. Other .45's such as Sig and S&W the grip feels to thin side to side. Probably a single stack characteristic. The HK fit perfectly. I like the .45 round so I figured I have got to get one of these. Walked into a Colorado HK dealer figuring give the locals first crack at my business. I asked the fellow behind the counter about rumours I had heard regarding HK's lacking customer service. His candor was interesting. He said that since the ban some HK rifles were illegal to sell in the U.S.. So HK's postion is work on LE and Military contracts and "screw the U.S. public." He also added that his story has had parts on order from HK for over a year. So, in my dumb luck have I choosen a pistol that is unservicable?
I've read a lot of posts on various boards regarding HK USP pistols, and I can't recall any of them being malfunction related.Mostly they've been about sights, grips, ammo, etc. You might post this on www.hkpro.com or on http://www.hkweaponsystems.com/cgi-bin/forums/ultimatebb.cgi Besides, there are lots of places with HK parts in stock,do a Google search. My have been flawless from round 1,good luck...
The bottom line is it might not be"servicable",but I'd bet it'll never need servicing...

I purchased a new P2000 that had a bad finish. I called HK and they said they didn't do refinishing. Period, end of story. Their CS isn't the best but their weapons are of superior quality. I sold my P2000 because of the LEM and sold my USP40 (bad mistake) because I went to all 9mm's. I purchased a USP9c recently because HKs function, all day, all night, always. You can't go wrong buying one. If you want a USP45, check out HKPro.com like Kirkcdl said. They have some nice prices on barely used USP45s. Be careful and Good Luck.
Hard to go wrong on a USP. They may be ugly but they work come hell or high water. My USP 9 and USP 45 have never had a malfunction in many thousands of rounds.;c

Not entirely, the guys over at hkpro.com like to joke about how poor HK's customer service is, but you also see posts about problems getting fixed.
You need some tact when dealing with them. Smooth talk, praise and B.S.ing will get you more than a yelling, cursing, and demanding. HK will fix problems that they know are their fault. They still take their sweet time but they get it done.
If you are really worried about customer service have you looked at the Springfield Armory XD pistols? They are pretty similar to HK's grip. SA guns also have a lifetime warranty and great customer service.
