I just purchased an Inland M1 Carbine in great shape at a gun show for $475. Would someone be so kind as to look up the date for the serial #?
All but the last two: 69285##
Thank You

I've just ordered the book that has that information. If your question has not been answered before I receive it, I'll be happy to look it up for you.
Is the barrel dated? It's possible it could be the original barrel, and the date would be about an inch or so behind the front sight. Usually, the barrel and receiver were within three months of production date match.
Inland, of course, was the major manufacturer of M1 carbines, so there are Inland barrels on lots of rearsenaled rifles, and yours might have been rearsenaled with another Inland barrel as well. Just a thought.
I'll check your post when I get my book.
According to JC Harrison, between Jan. and Aug., 1945.
Duff narrows it down to between April and June, being much closer to the April start number of 6.90 million.

This is similar to the answer I received at AMBACK Forums. The barrel is dated 2/45 which means there is a strong possibility it is the original barrel, since apparently barrels typically pre-date the receiver by a month or two or sometimes three.
Thanks for the help.
