View Full Version : EAA 10mm Goose5 10-22-2005, 22:41 How do you like this pistol? Is it a quality autoloader? NordicG3K 10-23-2005, 09:42 Quality seems to be the key word. Some people get a Witness that runs flawlessly, others get real lemons. If you do get a lemon you are then forced to deal with EAA's customer service department which isn't exactly know for it's helpfulness. 4eyes 10-23-2005, 10:01 EAA is KAPUT. There is no customer service. Lots of luck if you need a part. 10mm4ever 10-23-2005, 23:04 Originally posted by 4eyes EAA is KAPUT. There is no customer service. Sold my full-size and kept the compact for my 10mm collection. I've had the ramp "fluffed and buffed" and the gun still has occassional FTF/FTE issues that leave me feeling less than trusting it for CCW use. It is unfortunate cause it's a fun gun to shoot. EAA is alive and well and expanding their Witness product line. Need parts? Go to www.eaacorp.com. Need to talk to a real-live human being? Call (321)639-4842. While their customer service tends to run hot and cold (especially their gunsmithing department), they are hardly "KAPUT". There are enough internet rumors floating around without adding to the pile. Get your facts straight. 4eyes 10-24-2005, 13:20 Originally posted by Mossyrock Excuse me? Since when? EAA is alive and well and expanding their Witness product line. EAA keep the pistols and sell the long gun line to Remington? I tried calling and got a female robot telling me that the number was no longer in service. Hurricane maybe. Yep, the internet and the local gunstore owner told me that EAA was kaput. If I can't believe the gunstore owner, who can I believe? 4eyes 10-24-2005, 13:28 . G20man32904 10-24-2005, 14:49 Damn, they are 20 miles north of me! ;P Maybe I can get a discount if I buy direct? Or maybe just a shop tour? Mossyrock 10-24-2005, 18:41 Originally posted by 4eyes EAA keep the pistols and sell the long gun line to Remington? Yep, the internet and the local gunstore owner told me that EAA was kaput. If I can't believe the gunstore owner, who can I believe? I dunno...lawyers? Politicians? Maybe used car salesmen? All three are likely to give you as much straight info as your average gun store owner. And to answer your question, yes, Remington, under the "Spartan" banner, is now importing and marketing the Baikal line. In a fit of "Political Correctness" and marketing cowardice (not that I have an opinion here...), EAA has dropped the Saiga line, to include the Saiga 12. The good news is that a new company called Russian American Armory (RAA) has picked up the Siaga line and hope to have Saiga 12's in the country by Thanksgiving. Peter M. Eick 10-24-2005, 19:44 I always had good luck with EAA, but then again I sold my witness 10mm today. I just don't shoot it anymore. Why waste a perfectly good round of 10mm in a Witness when I could shoot it out of my RZ-10mm or my Baer custom 10mm. It was just sucking up space in the safe, so out of here. Myself 10-25-2005, 09:48 I hope they are still in the Witness buisness. I was hoping to get a hold of one of those compact polymer frame 10mm to try out. frank4570 10-25-2005, 13:27 My Witness works and shoots great. I have however had lots of problems with the magazines. Some are fine, some are a disaster.Customer service is.......um..... .well.....it isn't an expensive gun. ShootCraps 10-25-2005, 21:13 EAA can burn in Hell, right next to Air France for all I care. They both suck. :steamed: Glolt20-91 10-29-2005, 01:16 Well, that answers my question on the EAA 10mm too. The good news is the Saiga 12 which is supposed to be a reliable semi-auto is going to be available. ;a Adios, Bob Grayrider 10-29-2005, 15:44 Oh good grief. EAA is not out of business. They are no longer selling long guns. Remington got the Baikal deal and as for the Saigas, well they have yet to show with another importer so time will tell. The Russians can be hard to deal with. I hope someone can get them in as I like AKs. The new importer seems to think they will show soon. I have a good friend who works at EAA and can speak with certainty on what they are doing. Don't believe me? Call EAA, extension 210, talk to Marc himself. Tell him I sent you. EAA is revamping its Tanfoglio line. They are offering new guns in the steel and polymer series including our beloved 10mm: The Elite series guns are available now, such as the Stock and Match. I own two Stocks (9mm and 40), and have a 10mm Match shipping soon--likely this week. Stock http://www.tanfoglio.it/upload_dinamici/immaginid/pop-up/STOCK.jpg Match http://www.tanfoglio.it/upload_dinamici/immaginid/pop-up/MATCH.jpg See my review of the Stock at www.czforum.com, Clone Club, where I moderate: http://p201.ezboard.com/fczechpistols82792frm35 As for the EAA basic guns, they switched all models to the large frame platform that the 45, 10mm, and 38 Super used. This allows for 9mm to have 18 round, and 40 to have 15 round magazines. It also allows caliber conversion by only swapping uppers and mags. Neat idea IMHO. There are new magazine designs to support the 9 and 40 in the large frame platform, with insets on the side to narrow the stack and improve feeding. Mine work flawlessly. Polymer guns get an accessory rail. The Carry model will thus have the full-length dust cover one sees on the Tanfoglio Force series over seas. Expect a "Novak" looking rear sight next year. So again, they are not kaput. I do know they closed for the hurricane. No damage however, and things should be back to normal. I really need to check in here more often. If anyone has Tanfoglio questions drop by the above forum and one of the members can help you out. There are many 10mm fans there. ;f GR bambihunter 10-30-2005, 17:33 I bought my Witness with the understaning that I wouldn't get any real help should there be any problems. However, for the money, you can sink a bit into it and still be ahead. I think they are among the best 10mm bargains going as far as new purchases are concerned. It seems that 95% of the time a simple polishing job will take care of most feeding problems. They'll never replace my Glock as my defensive weapons, but if the Glock's didn't exist, I would put a lot more rounds through the Witnesses and I'd feel comfortable carrying it for defensive use. That should be the ultimate endorsement - a person that's willing to carry something that will be used to protect their very life... Glolt20-91 10-30-2005, 23:32 Thanks GR for the heads up; if CZ produced a 10mm I expect I would have bought a CZ instead of the Glock. I'll be getting one of their 550s fairly soon. :) Adios, Bob Grayrider 10-31-2005, 07:40 Glad I could help. Bambihunter is right on the polish issue. Most of mine have needed that, and in most cases that fixed any issues. I have had probably around two dozen Tanfoglios (mostly Witnesses, but also FIE and IMI). When I buy one now I shoot it a bit to see that I like the gun overall, then (just like with my 1911s) I run it to my smith for a polish and trigger tune. The CZ platform can be made to have absolutely wonderful trigger pulls in SA, and the DA can be shortened to feel much like it does from half-cock. With that out of the way, I run several hundred rounds down range for insurance and to get the gun down. Then into the carry rotation if I am so inclined. Right now I am working on carrying my Stock in 40, using one of Eric Larsen's DC Special holsters. Winter is approaching to my wardrobe is allowing for a larger gun than my trusty Kimber CDP Pro. I may try to carry the Match as well, but it is a bit longer. Expect a review on that one when I get the gun in. GR vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
