a Glock 21 followed me home from the Wanemacher show

Just back from the Wanemacher show in Tulsa with a model 21 and lots of extra magazines. I had Jack Tippit (the Glock Guy) put in the 3.5 pound trigger and a fiber optic front sight, which are all the mods I plan to make, though I do want to buy a heavy recoil spring to try some .45 Super. I love the way the gun sits in my hand. I'll probably wait to put some rounds through it, since I've already signed up to shoot Limited Minor with my 17 at the Arkansas 3 gun next weekend and I need to practice with that.

Any ammo recommendations? I've got a bunch of Blazer 230 and Winchester 230; I'll be looking for some JHPs for social uses. I also want to start loading some jacketed bullets. The only .45 I had was a 1911 and I shot exclusively lead out of it, so I'll need to read the manuals for some loads. What jacketed bullets do most of you use for .45?

The only holster I have is a Glock holster. I do want a slick Kydex of some kind for IDPA and IPSC.

Try the ammo forum, tons of information in there about .45 JHP. I prefer Speer Gold Dots, very good ballistics for "social carry" :)

i got one several months back and i love the dang thing,i use the speer gold dots and golden sabers...i like the speer better it is a hole cutter with those at 25yds from a solid rest i have been able to get 1 1/4 inch groups at that range with them more than good enough for me,i have not however been able to find the right holster for it yet but the holster box is getting full.

I carry 230 gr. Golden Sabers. I have no issues with carrying and would gladly carry Gold Dots (230 gr. also). Just it happened the Sabers were on sale when I bought carry ammo.

I want to play with some doubletap 230gr. JHPs. The numbers are VERY impressive, matching DT's baddest 10mm carry load ballistically (penetration was slightly better with the .45 oddly enough and the 10mm expanded a couple hundreths of an inch bigger).
