View Full Version : IWB for G20 uz2bUSMC 10-24-2005, 05:57 For those that have tried multiple types of IWB setups with their G20s, which do you prefer(as far as brands of holsters)? Thanx mell 10-24-2005, 10:39 I spent hundreds of dollars looking for the " right holster". I finally got wise and went to the comp tac web site, dropped some cash and got the C tac model. This holster is the best holster I could have ever gotten for IWB carry. Needless to say I got rid of all the other hosters that I had bought. The C tac model can be adjusted all different ways so that you can basically custom fit it to your preferances. Check these holsters out you will love them. Also buy your pants about one size larger and the gun will practically "melt" You won't even notice its there!!! I never thought it would be possible to carry the G20 comfortably but it is!! P.S. if it sounds like I'm happy with this holster.... I am!!! I never should have wasted the money on all the cheaper holsters. You really do get what you pay for.:) ILikeFtLbs 10-24-2005, 11:35 I like the Galco Summer Comfort. It runs about $65. The Galco Royal Guard is also excellent, but runs about $115. nickE10mm 10-24-2005, 14:02 Sidearmor IWB works like a charm. Zulu95 10-24-2005, 15:35 Kramer. Using it now for 9 years with no problems. uz2bUSMC 10-24-2005, 16:38 Thanx for the replies fellas. So many choices, quess it will eventually come down to a dice roll... Are you sure that Galco makes the Royal Guard for the G20? It isn't listed on their site. ILikeFtLbs 10-25-2005, 18:52 I bought one at a shop in July, so I don't know why it's not on there. For the money though, I prefer the Summer Comfort model. Mild Bill 10-25-2005, 19:48 Great review Mell... That'll be my next holster... ;c RussP 10-25-2005, 20:14 Originally posted by nickE10mm Sidearmor IWB works like a charm. Ditto...G20 and G29 in the Sidearmor IWB! jbenton 10-26-2005, 18:16 I've had real good luck with my Comp-Tac C-Tac. I use that one for my G19 (which I carry most often) and the G20. I have a pile of other brands and models that I've tried and didn't like, although none are in the list of recommendations thus far. Oh, and if you don't already have a good gun belt, it makes even a marginal holster better than a good holster with a cheap belt. I believe mine's a Galco 1.75". Wolf Spyder 10-28-2005, 00:22 I like the ClipDraw http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v378/Wolf_Spyder/Img_3906Resize.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v378/Wolf_Spyder/Img_3915Resize.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v378/Wolf_Spyder/Img_3902Resize.jpg kantstudien 10-28-2005, 05:06 Wolfy, who did the grip job? Sweet! Wolf Spyder 10-28-2005, 13:23 I did. straightblast 10-28-2005, 15:09 Wolf---you should do those for pay! Great looking job. Elk-ruser 10-28-2005, 16:28 Cant let the Tucker-The Answer Holster not get mentioned here. Works great for the 20 and 29. spoolboy 10-29-2005, 00:01 I have been using a Comp-Tac C-TAC with my G20, and I like it. I haven't had it that long, and it's the only holster I've tried. I use maximum cant to help hide the long grip. I ordered it with V-clips, then bought some standard clips. I prefer the standard clips unless I'm trying to tuck the gun. Much easier to take on and off and plenty stable with a thick belt. Although the v-clips are not bad at all, just slow to put on and can make noise if you don't take care with the velcro. The standard clips they sent also put the gun about 1/4" higher on the belt and make it not jab me in the rib when I get in and out of the car. I drilled the holes higher on the V-clips, but haven't tried them like that yet. The main weakness I see with this holster is that it's next to impossible to put on without standing up and loosening your belt, or undo-ing your pants, which can be difficult if you need to R&R in your car. I think a single-clip style holster might slip in and out easier. For all-day wearing, it would be hard to beat this holster. It's light and comfortable enough that I forgot I had it on while I was watching TV tonight on the couch. I did add some moleskin to the sweat-guard area and fasteners only. This seems to help it "slide" instead of dig in on my skin. The only other disadvantage is that you can't carry the gun ahead of your hip, because the front mounting clip will leave big bruises on your thigh and belly when you sit or bend. With a long-gripped gun like the G20, it seems like moving the holster forward helps keep the grip from printing, at least on my body. I will probably pick up another single-clip style holster to try. I wish the Bianchi model 100 was made for this model of gun. Glolt20-91 10-29-2005, 01:49 For some of us who haven't done ab crunches lately; a M1991/Bianchi set-up is all day/evening comfort - plus we get to buy reloading supplies instead of new pants. :) If I were to carry my G20 IWB, then it would mean new pants and my Colt presently tilts and tucks better than the G20 and I can keep my pants/shorts. IWB Colt feels lighter than OWB G20 and I carry both ways in a double carry situation with the Bianchi adjusting to cross-draw tilt. I expect in a pantless carry, neither the Glock nor the Colt would be noticed and that might be the best combination of all. Adios, Bob uz2bUSMC 10-29-2005, 13:52 Pantless carry...neiter noticed...thats true, very true... where are you planning to hang the gun.......... Wolf Spyder 10-30-2005, 11:41 straightblast "Wolf---you should do those for pay! Great looking job." I think I have to have an FFL to have the frames shipped to my house... Other wise I would offer to texture frames for others. It really is easy. Grab your soldering iron and go to town. Simply touch the hot iron to the surface to create a small divit lift and repeat. It takes about two hours to texture a grip with the palm designs included. With out the palm designs it would take much less time. PaleGreenHorse 10-31-2005, 03:54 Originally posted by RussP Ditto...G20 and G29 in the Sidearmor IWB! Both my G33 and G29 are carried in Sidearmor IWB holster, but I carry my G20 in a Sidearmor OWB. It is a fantastic holster and is suprisingly concealable. The bottom line I guess is you really can't go wrong with a Sidearmor holster, they are by far the best quality kydex holsters on the market. watertower 11-02-2005, 22:17 Another vote for the Comp-Tac CTAC holster. I've got one for the Glock 20 and one for a 1911. Generally I carry a 1911 in this holster for 10-12 hours a day and it has been great. Before the CTAC I used their Ghurka holster. Comp-Tac makes great products, they are good to deal with and they stand behind their products. vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
