View Full Version : G29 or G30?
I sold my G23 to a buddy last week and now I'm looking to replace it. I went to the local purveyor of all things Glock and had a looksee. I'm now torn between the G29 and the G30. My question is fairly simple... Which model is more diverse in the use of dropin barrels? If I wanted to shoot .40SW, .357sig, of whatnot which would be the better choice as the "host" weapon?
Also, any suggestions on barrel manufacturers? Stormlake (whom I think is local to me), KKM, Bar-sto?
Thanks
G29 for those and some others.

Of course, you posting this in the 10 ring, you're gonna get mostly pro-10mm answers.
The G29 should do .357 SIG, .40 S&W, and the 9x25 Dillon with drop-in barrels.
I'll let someone else with more conversion experience suggest a barrel. I've just stuck with the already powerful 10mm...
How about the concealability of possibly the G20? I'm so confused.
So many Glocks... so little money. :)
I owned both at the same tiem and have owned G20 & G21's.
The G29 shot the best for me. My 2nd Gen G21 was a close second.
I'm going to get another 10MM Glock and right now I am trying to decide between a G20 & G29. Since I just picked up a 610 S&W I will probably go with the G29.

So many Glocks... so little money. :) Depends on your build. I carry either the G20 or G29 daily in a Sidearmor IWB. Daytime is business casual and I either wear a light weight sweater, sweater vest, or sportcoat. If weather dictates, I'll wear an untucked banded bottom knit shirt bloused at the waist a little to hide the outline of the pistols.
I really like the way the 29 shoots. I do have Pearce exensions on all my mags.
Either way, you'll be well armed.
I am far from small. 6'4" 300lbs, I could theoretically conceal a M14. ;f

Talk about an easy answer to a simple question, the G29 of course... then again you probably already know this since you posted within 10mm territory...
There was an article on this over the summer. I believe it was Jarvis who sells the drop in barrel or he will fit the barrel, whichever you prefer. Just send him the slide. The mod 29 and 20 are both candidates for the .40 and .357 conversion and they both use the 10mm mags. I had 2 Glock 30's before realizing the 29 was more versatle and I have no regrets.
I have a G30 but not any other glocks at this time. The G30 is very popular and known to be very accurate from the many posts others have put into a related forum. Those calibers listed as dropin to the G29 do not appeal to me. What I plan to do is buy an aftermarket barrel for the G30 in 10mm and drop that in. With both 45ACP and 10mm I do not believe I could really gain anything practical from the others. BTW, just my 2 cents. Good Shooting:cool:

Get both,
A used and unfired G29 just came into my local gun shop. I am tempted but I just bought another Colt Delta Elite 10MM.
Another one;P How many do you have?

Who makes a 9x25 dillon barrel for the G29??? I thought they were only for the g20.
KB4, can't do it. Wouldn't be prudent. ;a
