How far from Dallas is Ferris? I am considering driving up from Victoria to shoot it. Sounds like fun shooting a grand thru my gun. Might have to switch to a 9mm instead of 40. Is there lodging near the range?
Mike
Ferris is about 25 minutes south of Dallas, maybe the same amount north of Ennis. Many hotels/motels within 30 minute drive to the range. I would recommend staying in Ennis or maybe Waxahachie instead of South Dallas, however. I live in Waxahachie and it takes me about 25 minutes to get to the range. Fairly new Holiday Inn Express in Waxahachie at Hwy 77/Hwy 287 intersection. If you want any other options, PM me. Thanks.

HELLO Everyone,
The 3rd Annual Glock vs. 1911 Match (Held in Texas, USA) is over
Officially OVER !!!!!
And what you ask was the outcome?????
Well, I will make a much more detail response, for all to digest and draw from it what you will, but for tonight here is a brief statement.
Team Glock VS Team 1911 - Team Glock WON but alot this year.
We had 5 shooters on each side. (Remember, we just announced this a short time ago)
Glock had three shooters that did not JAM.
1911 had one that did not JAM. (A .45 Springfield)
Terry B (1911) won the match.
And Terry B's gun JAMMED FIRST in the FIRST Stage!!! :):):) Just like last year. hehehehe
He ended up taking his gun out of the running due to bad lube, causing so problems.
Danny's Glock 17 broke a part that he never figured out what was, he just switded to another gun.
Rodney's Glock 17 failed to extract once and then a round stuck on the feed ramp once.
Marc's 1911 failed to go into battery once. "he used the same lube as Terry did"
Merlin's 1911 broke a mag release and was OUT...
Doug's 1911 ( Well lets say we STOPPED counting his) He also broke a extractor, but kept on going. He had a single shot for most of the rest of the match.
Guys, it went great.
Terry and Rodney helped out and I really appreciated them working hard.
We started shooting at 8:39 and finised and they were pulling out at 5:30 with their certificates of (well, i will let them tell you about that.)
Once again, thanks to all the shooters I hope you tell all your friends how much fun you had, and what if anything you learned and come back next year.
Like always, 2005 shooters have right of first refusal on returning
in 2006.
See ya, and I will type more soon.
Oh the results went like this.
Terry B. (1911) 685.50 sec
Danny S. (Glock) 704.58 Sec
Paul K. (Glock) 714.37 Sec
Rodney V. (Glock) 799.26 Sec
Marc A. (1911) 902.12 Sec
Merlin O. (1911) 1016.00 Sec
David G. (1911) 1017.33 Sec
Steve C. (Glock) 1026.95 Sec
Jaimie E. (Glock) 1554.76 Sec
Doug W. (1911) 1725.49 Sec (Mr. Single Shot to his new friends) But he kept on going.
Way to go all you guys.
