I used to shoot a Steyr STG58 with open sights only.
What's the group size of a DSA built SGT 58 WITH a scope. And are the 'usual' scope platforms solid?
Using quality surplus or handloads you should expect MOA groups. Steyr made barrels are very high quality.
IMHO *EXPECTING* MOA from surplus ammo thru a surplus barrel screwed into a semiautomatic firearm is a bit too hopeful.
i'm using fine condition STG barrels (all 3 are Austrian MFG) on 3 of my FALs and none regularly do MOA w/surp.
of course i shoot them with loaded mags in place and don't cool or clean them between shots. could just be i have 3 erratic barrels but i don't think so.
mine will hang right about 2MOA with Aussie or Hirt &iron sights if i concentrate.
i could just be a bad shot i suppose. :(
