View Full Version : G29 accuracy?
I've been thinking about getting a 10mm for hiking, fishing, etc. The G20 seems to be a pretty accurate gun from what I've read, especially with a longer barrel, but I haven't heard much about the G29.
So, how's the accuracy at 25yds? 50yds? Is 50yds beyond the potential of this little powerhouse? I think just about anything is accurate at 7yds, but I'm curious about longer distances. I may want to shoot a rabbit, woodchuck, etc. as well as have a compact self-defense weapon. Am I asking for too much out the G29?!

I shoot my 29 better than my 20. In fact I'm replacing my 20 with another 29. The 20 is only 3/4" longer. With good ammo (DT) you only lose about 60fps. using the 29. It also will accomodate the G20 mags (use the "adapters" that fill the gap). Enjoy the coolest semi-auto out there!;)

all this G29 talk is driving me crazy. I want one really bad now. Does anyone know of a good company that I can send it to so I can get it a hard chrome/stainless finish? Ill be setting up a G20L here soon, but Im thinking I need the G29 first. So many glocks, so few dollars ;g

Hey folks. I too shoot a little bit better w/ my g29...but I NEED a G20L now and I have 2 G29s. So, I'm selling one of them here right now (click here (http://glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=5103490#post5103490)). As for refinishing, I'd look into Robar's NP3 finish. I have it on my 1006 slide and I love it. If you want a g29, it will be hard to find a better deal than the one I have listed.

Not to mention that you could always get a G29, and then an Advantage Arms .22lr upper for it and plink away at those vermin.

yep - I'll try to do so tonight when I get home (in the meantime, imagine a brand-new looking G29 with a similarly new CTAC holster).

You mean like this:

Hard chrome? ;P Like the Jeep people say, "chrome don't get you home." ;f Shiny chrome is for the 9-minimeter Chippendale crowd. ;i
Okay, seriously, a chrome slide is fine. The slide of my S&W 1006 has been hard chromed. But the NP3 treatment literally eliminates the need for lubrication. And clean-up, even after a long and dirty range session, is about a 1 minute deal.
Accuracy from 20yds-and-in has never been an issue with my G29. Yeah, it's not a long distance target pistol, but it's got more than enough accuracy for a gunfight at spitting distance. When I first got mine I wasn't sure what to expect with its 3.8" tube. But this little powerhouse shoots VERY tightly with a number of 10mm loads, better than a few 5" 1911s I've shot over the years.
agtman, that's a sweet looking gun. what did you do to the grip?

here (http://glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=452669) is a pic.

JKG:
The G29's grip has Decal's textured adhesive "panels" on it. They're pre-cut to fit the grips of particular Glock models. They feel a bit like fine sand paper, rather than, say, skateboard tape. They enhance grip-ability without adding bulk.
I think the lighting in the pic just caught the grip at an odd angle. They really don't standout that much.
Both Dillon and Brownell's sell Decals. About $8 per pack, IIRC.

For woods walking there is a lot to be said for carrying some FMJ's. I do and they do little damage to small game. Shot a blue grouse at about 25 yards or so last year with no problems.
