View Full Version : Refinish Question
Just bought a used G22. Looks to be in good shape except the slide. Has some wear looks mostly like holster wear. I feel sure the slide could be refinished but what finish is it that Glock puts on it from the factory and is this something that only a good "Smith" should do? Thanks, Dave

Dude, it's a freakin' Glock. It's supposed to be ugly. Shoot it, carry it, and toss it in the mud. If it really bothers you there's always Krylon. (Or Norrel's) ;)

Not necessarily. I'd suggest you go here to Lauer Custom Weaponry (http://www.lauerweaponry.com/refinishers.cfm) and look for a DuraCoat finisher near you. The slide is usually not too much and you can select from many more options than the dull black phosphate finish from Glock, which is NOT Tenifer. Tenifer is the treatment that is under the surface in the metal. And your DuraCoat will last much longer & look better than Krylon...

CGW Guns (http://www.cgwguns.com) did my P228 with a moly coat and I am happy. He is part of the LCW link on the post above mine. Rich is very good man and does excellent work. I got mine in matte black. I am going to send my P225 to him when it arrives in the next few days. If I had a Glock in bad shape I wouldn't hesitate to send it to him.
