View Full Version : I did, please do not hate me
I was up late last night dry firing and practicing my draw. I just got fed up with the BS Finger grooves that are on my 3rd gen g19. I pulled out the Dremmel and smoothed them down. I left all the texture between the finger bumps. I even ground down the nasty bump down near the pinky finger area.
I know you are all going to flame me for ruining a perfectly good Glock ;6. And how the resale value will suffer and so on. But it feels so much better now. I have always like by 1st gen g17 now I might like my g19 just as much.
My fingers no longer feel cramped the grip feels much more natural
If you hate it at least consider carving it off.
I totally agree with you, I did the same thing a couple of years ago to my 3rd gen 19. Except, I smoothed the front strap completely and put a small piece of grip tape in its place. Much more comfortable now. As far as resale goes, I am not going to sell it anyway so who cares. :)

Just buy an Agrip and stick it over your hacksaw fingergroove "adjustment". No one will ever know.

I have been considering this for my 23. Can you post pics? Anymore details as to how you did it?
Thanks.
Really all I did was grind away with a dremmel. I started with the 120 grit sanding drum. Then I took a small wire brush to it.
I will work on it some more. I plan to take it down a little more between the factory textured areas so there are no little humps between them.
It was very easy, I went pretty slow. Maybe if I sent it out it would have looked better.
However part of the attraction to glock is they are pretty inexpensive. If I spend 100 dollars on sights, then another 100 on a light, then another hundred on extra mags and then another hundred on texturing the grip. I think you get the idea.
Well I hope this helps.

hey, it doesn't look as bad as i imagined it! try a little hobby paint clearcoat spray to smoothen it out and to give it a "finished" feel. the area looks a bit lighter in color compared to the rest of the frame. just my 2 cents!

I wouldn't do that to mine but it's your Glock and your money paid for it. If you're happy that's all that matters. Doesn't look butchered at all.

Boy do I feel lucky for having searched until I found a used second generation Glock 19. No Dremel for me. :)

But I have a really cool light rail.
That is the beautyof carving off the FG on a 3rd is that IMO it gets the best of both worlds.

I don't care for the light rails, so the absence of one didn't affect my purchase. But, hey, if that's your thing then Glock on! ^c
