I got my second squirrel this year with my 10mm tonight.I was using a hard round bullet at modest velocity so the wound was just about like a .22. I have had to bring my hunting up to a whole new level, and pass on a lot more shots,to take animals with a handguninstead of a rifle.
Once again though, as I held my sights on his head and started to tighten up on the trigger my sights started to drift toward center of mass. I hit him high in the shoulders. Pretty much ruined the shoulders.Tomorrow I will do some work with my own lead flat front bullets and then give them a shot. The flat fronts are devastating right from the first instant they touch soft stuff, so I will have to get my focus on the head shot or I'll blow the squirrel in half.
I took a picture tonight but it didn't turn out too well.It doesn't really matter since it really looked like a .22 hit anyway. If I get a hit with my flat fronts I will post a pic.
