View Full Version : Trigger Failure To Reset Question
I love my G31 (357 Sig) and have been working to get the trigger lighter and smoother. I added a competition kit from Glockmeister and that made the trigger break at 4.25 +/- every time.
I just installed a Wolff reduced power firing pin spring and that lowered the break to 3 +/- lbs. But, I have had the trigger fail to reset a number of times. I was wondering if the FTR's were because of the reduced power firing pin or something else, although nothing else was changed.
Any feedback or suggestions? I shoot my own loads in it...... 125 gr bullet with 8.5 grs Power Pistol and WSP primers. Doing about 1355 through the chrono.
Thanks for the help.
Start with the firing pin spring and reinstall the factory part, then test your pistol.

gerleb,
Did your comp kit from GM include a differant trigger spring,if it did, replace it with the factory spring, also check the FP and trigger bar engagement if you can.Did you shoot your glock with the GM kit before you installed the wolff 4lb spring,i ask this because i haven't heard of any reset problems due to a 4lb FP/striker spring. You can check the speed a strength of your bar on reset by taking your slide off and pushing the small upright arm that is at the top of the connector towards the left, which will allow the bar to pop up,to put it down again, simply push the upright on the bar(the one that depress's the FP safety )slightly forward, the bar will drop down again.

I agree that it sounds more like a trigger spring. Are you sure you're talking about the correct spring and it's replacement? If so, I guess my next move would be to re-install the FP spring as previously mentioned. Also, if you installed a lighter recoil spring, it may be causing a lack of battery attainment which could also result in a lack of trigger reset. Your 8.5 gr. PP rounds should be plenty adequate to cycle the slide with a functioning setup.

Suggest you look at the firing pin dipple in the expended round primer and is there a difference between the factory spring and the new wolff. if the wolff spring is shallower than the factory spring dipple change it back to the FP. In addition, you may want to ensure that there is no firing pin drag caused by the new spring with less tension.

Ditch the GM trigger spring. I've had no success trying a rp firing sping spring and the GM comp triger spring. The trigger turns to mush and may or may not work. For me, the Wolff rp firing pin makes a bigger difference. Stay with the OEM trigger spring, rp firing pin spring, Scherer 3.5 connector and a polish job and you're good. A Lonewolf Ultimate Triiger Stop makes a pretty slick trigger.

I have a bone stock trigger with the exception of a Scherer 3.5# connector and the .25 trigger job and mine breaks at a constant 4.25#
I was going to try the GM trigger but if it is the same trigger weight that I already have I'm not goint to waist the money.
