I am looking into .22 target shooting. Any advice on a good first .22 target pistol?
Thanks in advance.

I like my Ruger 22/45. Shoots forever, accurate. Probably not a real high end competition gun though.
Smith 41 or High Standard. I like the HS.

HOw much do you want to spend?? You can start at a few hundred bucks for something decent and easily get over $2000 for a high end one. A Ruger is a good low end gun. Things go up fast from there.

Why not one of the .22 conversion kits for the Glock you already own? Saves a bunch of $$ and I am sure a Glock can do just as well as any of its competition - if not much better (it does everything else better).

Buckmark Target or a Sig trailside target I have both and shoot bullseye with the sig it runs has a 1 ragged hole test target to boot.

I shoot a Glock conversion for USPSA practice including strong hand only, and a couple of other 22s for Bullseye. The trigger of the Glock will make it very hard to get good Bullseye scores even if the conversion can get good enough groups.
You could pick up a ruger mkII or 22/45 for cheap used. They are fairly common. Start shooting, if you like it and want to get something better send the Ruger to www.clarkcustomguns.com.
They make custom tuned Rugers for $500-$600 (+your gun). They use their own barrel so when you buy your cheapy used ruger you wouldn't have to be concerned about what barrel to get. You could potentially have a custom tuned pistol for the price of a new/used S+W 41.

Not in bullseye shooting. No Way!
Super light, crisp single action trigger vs. 3 lb plus spongy Glock trigger? No contest for ultra high accuracy shooting.

Not much into bullseye (yet), but had the opportunity to shoot one of those Sig Trailsides and it's a VERY nice gun. Other than that I have a Ruger Mark-II bull that I & the kids love - Buckmarks are OK too.
Good luck!

If your going to shoot bullseye you are going to need a competition built 45, probably a 1911 so think about a Marvel Conversion for the 1911. It will shoot as tight as just about any 22 this side of a free pistol.

The Marvel kits for a singlestack are really hard to beat.
