Glock slide rail rusting

The rear slide rail of my glock 26 is rusting. Would anyone know if it's replaceable. Will it affect the guns performance if it just stays there rusted even if it's oiled?

Would it be okay to use a fine grained sand paper and take out the top most layer just to clear the rust out (at least some of it)?

That's exactly what I would do.

I'm assumeing this is a carry gun. since you only have rust on one side. If it is I would suggest you clean the gun more often. Gun Butter is a good choice for lube since it does not run like some other products. Also I would be looking at a different holster.
