Knees wearing paint from tank

The paint on my fuel tank is wearing from rubbing my knees. It only happens when I wear leather riding pants, jeans or textile pants don't harm it. It's just wearing on the clearcoat right now, but if it wears thru to the soft color layer beneath, it will get ugly fast.

Does anybody know of something I can put over the area to protect it? Wax does no good. I was thinking about the static-cling material some graphics are made of, but don't know where to get a small piece of it in monochrome.

As a last resort I'll spray more clearcoat on the affected area when the color layer starts to show thru. I'd rather just cover the tiny area with something that won't harm the paint.

Some sort of stick-on clear protective film? Someone must make sheets of clear tape that can be cut to size.

There are all sorts of knee/tank protectors floating around. I have yet to avail myself to one.

Stomp makes grip panels for the tank and are used on the track by a lot of the best riders. I use a Bagster tank cover made of leather on my Red Ducati.

3M makes a 'paint protectant film' for the hood of cars to cut down on stone chips. It's about $200 for a hood sized piece. If there is an installer in your area, you could probably get a couple of scraps for very little.
