Ammo set-back...

Howdy all,

I was home from work yesterday, and decided to clean my G33 and do some dry fire drills.

When I took the round out of the chamber, it looked a little short...

So, I grabbed a dial caliper and it measures 1.095 inches. I then measured the other rounds I had in the carry and spare mags.. They went from a high of 1.144 to a low of 1.135, with most being between 1.138 and 1.141. These are Georgia Arms factory loads, 125gr. GDHP's

I then measured some factory Speer 125 GDHP's and they are all in the 1.135 range (+ or - 3 thousands).

I then took a Geargis Arms load and measured it before and after loading it in the chamber - no change. I loaded it a second time - no change. So I'm not worried about Georgia Arms ammo, I'm just wondering what happened to the one round..?

I try and be careful about loading one round over and over again. But I think I'll NOT shoot this short one - just makes me nervous.

Anyone else run into this?

Common in .40 and .357 calibers.
Do not use that round.
As you said, try not to reuse the same round in the tube.

Setback is very common with the 357Sig.

Try this. Everytime you pull one out of the pipe, mark the primer with a Sharpie. load those rounds to the bottome of the mag.

When the mag is completely marked, they become practice rounds.

I am a wierdo when it comes to stuff like this.

I weigh and measure all my 357SIG ammo that I carry on duty. I then shoot the "light" ammo to make sure there is gun powder in them. That way I am sure that all the round I have have the best chance of going bang.

I discard any 357SIG ammo that gets below 1.10". Usually that will be the first two rounds off the mag that gets used for loading and unloading after approx. 6 months.

This is just one of the things you need to know about the 357SIG round.

How do you like these? The one on the right is a good one. I didn't measure them but obviously the one on the center has set back issues.
