Reduced power recoil spring

Someone tell me the reason for a reduced power recoil spring.
I have a stainless steel guide rod with a 13# spring on it.
It is for a G17
What effect would this have shooting factory loads (WWB and JHP)

A reduced power recoil spring will get you less percieved recoil.

Faster slide speed. Perceived recoil varies by user. Likely you'll see more flip with less dip. Lighter springs are especially useful with lighter loaded rounds but the 9mm is an automatic candidate for spring lessening with it's already lighter recoiling propensity than some of the bigger bore rounds.
