I sent it in to the Kimber Custom Shop and am very pleased with the work. What do you guys think?

Please, no Mr. Peanut comments; I like the grips and that's all that matters!;f
Really nice!...a friend of mine bought a LNIB 10mm like yours and it is very nice....I have 2 Deltas but am kinda jealous of yours and his!

It looks great. I think checkering the front strap is an excellent way to keep a stout 1911 in your hand. My Dan Wesson Pointman isn't checkered, so I bought some skateboard tape and put it on. Wow what a difference!
I wish there was a smith in Virginia who can do the work. It costs almost a hundred bucks in shipping to send a gun off. :steamed:

Thanks guys. It really does feel better in the hand. I thought about the skateboard tape, but I suspect the cleaning products I use would force me to keep re-applying tape, so I went with something more permanent.
Next, the slide goes to Dawson Precision for a fiber-optic front sight.
I paid around $30 insured air shipping each way (for the whole pistol).
Paul,
You could always trade one of the Deltas (might even get some cash out of the deal).
Very, Very Nice. Plus, you get bonus points for getting those grips off the street and into a good home! :)
I just picked up my first Kimber (Grand Raptor II) but it's .45ACP. I love the gun and the caliber but 10mm is still my favorite.
Enjoy the new Kimber!

I hear ya. It took me a while to find this NIB or LNIB one:

And, I too would have a hard time parting with it.
As for the grips, this is what I came up with until Kimber makes a 10mm Warrior. ;a

i don't see the pictures....
Guns looks great SilverState. Did you talk with anyone at Kimber, or just send the gun in? I'm courious about the Kimber Custom Shop myself. I have an Eclipse 10mm I was thinking about sending in and getting "dehorned". Not sure what their refinish process is. I'd rather have my Eclipse sent back all stainless without anything "blackened-out". I'd prolly have to talk with someone at Kimber about this beforehand, and was just wondering how receptive they are. Also, what was the turnaround time for the Kimber Custom Shop?
Thanks.

Thanks again.
I called the Kimber Custom Shop at (914) 964-0771 Ext: 228 and they told me to ship it in the original plastic box with a letter indicating the work to be done. The turn around time was less than a month.
Here's the Kimber Custom Shop price list:

I have heard that Springield Armory does similar work but for less money than the Kimber Custom Shop. I cannot vouch for their work, but I though I would mention it.

ahhhh there's the pic..... NICE Silver. Man, I wish I hadn't sold my Kimber STII.... Someday, I'll either buy it back from my step-brother (kept it in the family) or buy myself a DW.... I can dream, can't i? I'm having so much fun with my G20L I have no reason to buy ANY other 10 right now.
