Electrician's tape on the grip

Maybe I have been gripping my 3rd gen G19 too hard, but yesterday the checkering in the finger grooves was really irritating my fingers when I was dry firing and practicing my draw.

So I came up with a cheap and non-permanant solution. I wrapped 2 layers of electrician's tape around each of the 3 finger grooves (making sure that the layer near the trigger guard didn't interfere at all with the mag release/catch).

While I haven't had a chance to shoot it with the tape-mod, the gun feels a lot more comfortable to hold. Also, the tape has improved the gun's gripability without adding bulk to the grip. And if I find that I don't like it later on, all I gotta do is peel off a dime's worth of stuff.

I know it's not the most aesthetically pleasing method, but I think it works and I figure someone else might find it useful as well.

Has anyone else tried this?

I'll take it to the range tomorrow and report on how it goes.

I find electrician’s tape slippery when wet. Try the A-Grip.

+1 for A-Grip! For CCW, it is comfortable, as opposed to Tru-Grip, which is great for USPSA Production, but will burn a hole in your ribs if carried IWB.

Well I went to the range for the last 2 days and fired about 250 rounds through my G19.

Like I said, the gun (especially the front strap) feels much more comfortable to hold, and has more grip.

Admittedly, electrician's tape does get slippery when wet, but not as much as the stock glock grip.

I have no doubt that A-Grip works great and is far superior to electrician's tape, but as of right now I don't see an explicit need for it. (Maybe I would if other colors were readily available :cool: )

try a bike(ten speed) inner tube. do a search on this, there are several thread on how to do this.;f ;f

Use skateboard tape.... it won't get slippery.

3M COBAN tape. it is thin strechy cheap available in many colors and sold in drugstores sporting good stores as a medical bandage or athletic wrap. sticks great to itsself. It gives you a great grip. stays on, comes off easy when you want it too, easy on hand. So good somone could make a 'stickey' about this product, lol.

+1 on that , i just paid $2.00 for 3 feet of the grip tape. I've got enough to outfit a 50 glocks, guess i'd better start shopping...:)
