I want my first glock for xmas. I am interested in the 32 (hence the screen name). I was unaware until I started browsing this forum that the calibers were interchangable. So let me see if I have this right:
The 32 can be converted to a .40 or a 9mm. The .40 conversion is just a drop in barrel, the 9mm conversion is recommended to include a different clip, extractor, and ejector. Is that correct?
I also read something about the conversion not being recommended with one generation because it isn't able to handle the extra power?
thanks in advance.

Third gen is gonna be the strongest and newest. I havent done any conversions on my 32 because I found that GA arms sells high quality "factory" reloaded ammo for the same price as Walmart value pack .45 ACP that I was using in my 21. I picked it up at a local gun show in Tallahassee in a surplus ammo can. Something like 90 bucks for 500 rounds.
They visit as far down as Orlando and Tampa I think with the Southern Classic Gun and Knife show. You can contact them and ask them. They told me that if you call ahead of time you can have them bring you anything you want to the gunshow to make sure they dont run out. If you look through this forum you will see they are highly recommended from the 357 SIG fans ;c

A G32 has the stronger frame, so converting to 9mm or 40 s&w is fine. The caution that you heard was regarding converting an older 9mm frame to 357 Sig or 40 S&W.
The G32 can be converted to 40 cal just by dropping in a Glock 23 barrel. Aftermarket barrels are also available.
To fire 9mm, you will need a conversion barrel ($81). And, 9mm magazines. It is recommended that you swap the extractor and ejector if you are going to use the 9mm for self-defense. But, for range duty, just the barrel and magazines will be fine.
I have a 9mm conversion barrel for my G24 (longslide 40 cal). It works better with hotter 9mm ammo. It works well enough for practice, but I wouldn't use it for self-defense.

Georgia Arms is also approved by Glock. I had to call for myself and check before using their ammo in my G30. Good shooting ammo, and realitivly clean.
