I too would like to know what spring, but more specifically for a Glock 29. Generally, 20-24 lb. springs seem to be the norm for 10mm. I run 22 and 23 lb. springs in my Witness 10mm and my Para-Ordnance P-16/10mm

I am using a THE s/s guiderod and ISMI 20-22 lb. springs in my G-20's.You can find them at Topglock.I still have the factory unit in my 29.

By slowing down the slides rearward velocity,it takes some of the "snap" out.You should try it with both the factory unit, and then the after-market setup.Recoil is a very subjective thing,so trying it out yourself will be the best way to find out.Springs are relatively cheap,so order 2 or 3 different weights and experiment.

I suggest a Wolff 24lb. spring and a Wolff steel guide rod to use with it. With full power 10mm ammo(why would you want to shoot anything else) it has been my experience that at least a 24lb. spring is required. I say 24lb. because this is the strongest that Wolff makes. I would love to have a 28 or 30lb spring to try out. If anyone knows of any G20 springs greater than 24lb, please speak up! With full power 10mm (180gr@1350-1400fps, 4.6"bbl), the brass is still flung far and wide with a 24lb. If you reload, this is a bad thing as far as locating your fired brass is concerned. Ideally, the brass should barely limp out of the chamber, landing on the ground 2-3 feet to your right.

If you experiment, please post results!
I run 22 pound springs in both of my Smiths.
i use the 24lb spring in my G20. As to it's advantages, I can't really say for sure. It may keep the slide locked a split second longer which may be a good thing for hot ammo. I have zero evidence of this though.
