I got my new AR yesterday and took it out today to see how she felt. The very first round I tried to touch off was a dud. The firing pin stuck the primer but nothing. She performed perfectly after that.

Did it run correct every time after the first FTF? Was the primer hit normal looking? Did you clean and lube your new Bushie before you went out to shoot it? If it ran just fine afterward I wouldn't worry about it.Bad round perhaps.Shoot your AR a bunch, everything needs a break-in when new.

She was all clean and lubed. This is my first AR 15 so that click seem very loud. Perfect after that.
What are the odds? I bought 1000 rounds, loaded three thirty rounders, and the very fisrt shot out of a brand new gun was dud.

OK, Um...What kind of ammo?
if its wolf ammo i wouldnt be surprised. I've shot about 3k rounds of wolf through mine, and every 300-500 rounds i get one with a dud primer.

How did the firing pin strike look?

How long had the gun been sitting on the shelf at the store? Maybe some oil around the firing pin had turned to varnish and was a bit sticky it's first shot. Take it apart, clean it up, and re-oil it. I do that with every new gun I get anyhow. I've seen quite a few new guns with old oil turned to varnish.

The only FTF with my G23 was with American Eagle.
I wouldn't worry about it. The time to start worrying is when malfunctions begin occurring after about 400 rounds.

I put another 200 or so through her. The gun was flawless. I cannot stand the stock pistol grip though.

If the primer indentations on the rounds that actually did fire were deeper, perhaps your problem is a bad primer in that particular round.
That it only happened once seems to make this idea more likely.
