View Full Version : Should have got a G20C
I'm really starting to regret getting a G20, I feel as though the recoil prevents very fast follow up shots. I'm very fast with my 17, and can place shots in a 6 inch circle @ 10 yards as fast as I can pull the trigger. But with the 20, I been trying double taps at a sillouette @10 yards and I'm all over the place sometimes missing completely. I think I should have gotten a compensated model, which would at least given me the option of a compensated, regular or long barrel. Any thoughts?

Maybe just get a 6" barrel with comp. for it?

Try a 6 inch ported barrel from Storm Lake or EFK.They will add up to 4 ports for a 6 inch barrel, this should have a measurable effect on muzzle flip. Also experimenting with different recoil spring weights will effect recoil as well.If you find the perfect combo of these two,it should cause a dramatic difference in your split times.
Huh, that's smart, thanks for the replies.

Just practice.
Practice is very expensive, I've only shot <1000 rounds through it. Also, looked at comped barrels for it, and $265 is a lot, when 50 extra bucks would have gotten me a G20C. Still regretting not getting one to begin with.

keep your eyes peeled, it's quite possible you could find someone willing to trade

Little more forward wait bias, little more firm with the push pull method on the hands.... and lots more costly practice.

++1 on the stiff push / pull, and lean into the shot. It is an agressive stance but I think it helps greatly.

I was using one 15 round magazine and two 10 round magazines for this target.

Wolf, is that a Delta Elite symbol that you've put on your G20? Is looks sweet.

If you think that practice is expensive, think what not practicing could cost you...especially if that is the pistol you depend on. Everyone here loves the hot stuff. Me too, just something about all that horsepower. If you realize though that you are not controlling it, which it sounds like you have, then download a bit. A lighter bullet, traveling a bit slower is a heck of a lot better than lots of other pistol cartridges, and it is controllable.
Good news is that this was all free. Thanks, LIV

Forgot to mention an obvious thing, you're also comparing watermelons to plums here. You'll spend to much time trying to get a ten mil to act like a nine. Same token, you'll never get the g17 to stay put like a ruger .22 either. Live with it, LEARN it, and then.... you WILL love it.....

How did you get the DE symbol to look different than the surrounding area?

Easy, I did not use the iron on that area. I guess it is like drawing the "voids" of an image. I did not draw the triangle or the circle, I used the iron on everything else. Do you understand what I'm trying to say?

Yes, I understand. You did a great job. When you say iron, are you referring to some type of soldering iron?

If you use your G20 for target shooting only, then get a G20C. If you need your G20 for service or personal protection, stay with your G20 and just practice more. G20C does reduce the muzzle rides (or elevatio), but it also causes additional flashes that is undesirable for combat or night shoots (blinding will cause you longer to recover from recoil).

Not to mention "flash burns" if you try to shoot the pistol while it is close to the body. As if using the off hand to stiff-arm an attacker, while holding the weapon back, close to the body. Shooting the weapon like this will burn you if it has ports.
Well, I guess "burn" is an over exaggerated statement. It will be uncomfortable to shoot a ported pistol close to the body (under your chin).
Wow this one really got sidetracked... I would like to mention that converting a G20C to a non-compensated pistol is easier than converting a G20 to a G20C. Hence I regret not getting the C model.
