Has anyone noticed the looser tolerances on the newer G19's (slide to frame fit)
I bought a new G19 and had noticed that it was looser than any of my other Glocks. So I went to the shop that I bought it at and showed them, they then pulled a couple of G19's from the case and they too were very loose.
Any thoughts on this?

I picked up a new G19 two weeks ago, and it was manufactured about 1 month before that. I have had two other G19's for a few years and the newest one has a tighter fit than either of them.
I just got a G19 that was manufacturerd in October, and the fit of the slide to the frame is very tight...
Mine seems fine. Not sure of the exact manufacture date, but I just got it new yesterday, so I'm assuming it's pretty fresh.

Am I the only one with a sloppy slide to frame fit?
I guess I will just trade it in for something else.
What really sucks is that I traded my G21 in for the G19 because of a frame imperfection (hairline crack on the blackstrap). Now I will have to do it again.
The G19 platform is my favorite of the Glocks it's just a shame I got this one.

I bought a G19 back in April and visually it has a pretty loose fit. If I hold it up to the light I can see all the way through it. This is my first G19 so Im not sure what the ideal fit would be, but I think that it looks a little sloppy. It fires like a champ though, I have already put close to 2000 rounds through it with absolutely no problems.

Mine is not visual, when the slide is on the frame you can wiggle it back and forth. If you shake it, the slide moves side to side.
It seems to shoot ok...130 rds through it so far. However I cant get past the fact that it is so loose.
None of my other Glocks do this.

as far as the slide wiggling, my G19 has just a hair of wiggle. So I dont think its the same issue. Is it normal to have that much space between the slide and frame though?

just pulled mine out of the safe. it's brand new, maybe 100 rds. through it and it's very tight. no wiggle.

Ok cool. its my first Glock so I wasnt really sure. It is an awesome gun. Thanks for the reply
I have never seen any Glock that didn't have the slide rattle back and forth without a full mag inserted.

Newer Glocks are defenitely tighter than older generations.

Ditto here. I bought a G19 on October 15 that was testfired in late September. Also a tight fit.

I just bought my first Glock (G19) in late October. I haven't compared it to any other Glocks to see if there is more or less wiggle, etc. However, I am curious how one finds out the manufacture date of their Glocks.

Agree with Btitt. My 19 and 26 have some play ,but not with a loaded mag.
My 2004 G37 has more give than my new September 2005 G19. Even when I had first bought my G37, before even shooting it, it was fairly free. My G19 was pretty tight. Of course, not as tight as my Beretta 9000S, that the G19 replaced. Would the G37 have more give because of the .45 slide on a 9mm frame? Probably doesn't matter too much.

My newly bought G19 is very tight when there is a round in the chamber, I haven't tried it when empty to see if there is any difference like the others that I have had. *Unloads it* Definitely more play unloaded, but nothing more so than any other GLOCK I have owned in the past. Mine is quite normal to me as all of the GLOCKs that I have had were tighter when loaded than when unloaded. *Shrugs*

I was told by an armorer that the looser slide tolerance on the newer Glocks {my G19 is real loose side to side}enables the Glock to handle the extreme pressures of the plus p plus ammo. without undue stress on the firearm....mine was made in April 2005....I dont know if this is true or not...............????

I went to the store and bought a new Glock 19 yesterday just to check for you. Well, ok, that wasn't the only reasaon.
Seemed normal to me, no "looseness" of which to speak!
What really sucks is that I traded my G21 in for the G19 because of a frame imperfection (hairline crack on the blackstrap).
Had you sent it back to Glock, they'd have replaced the frame for you.

It's not. Plenty of similar guns can handle +p+ just fine with tighter slide to frame fit.
my BRAND NEW g26 has some play to it when the mag is not in it... i have been told that this is normal. reason? when u get sand and dirt in it, the slide can still function. this is coming from smyrna, ga from the glock house! so i guess its ok.. plus, would u want a gun that is totally tight and has no play to it... plus if it was too tight then it would rape the slide when u racked it back....:)
My new G19 is tight. It was test fired in late Sept. I haven't had a chance to load it or shoot it yet.

My 3rd gen with "1" on the chamber end also goes wagga-wagga if shaken vigurously without a magazine in.
IMHO loose tolerances are not a bad thing.....they allow for a weapon to work with generous amounts of crap in the action....yes it might reduce some of the accuracy but you will have a working weapon of acceptable accuracy versus a highly accurate unoperable-under-harsh-conditions weapon. Kinda like the AKM vs M16 deal.
To me accuracy in a pistol means killing a soda can at 25 meters. YMMV.
My 3rd gen G19 has always been a bit loose in slide to frame fit. IMHO this is better for reliability in adverse conditions (i.e. mud). Though it snugs up a bit with a full mag inserted and/or a round in the chamber.
I do not expect my Glocks to be tight fitting any more than I expect it from my AK type rifles. Though I think it is a pick of the litter kind of thing, some are tighter than others. This is true with all production handguns.
