I would love to see some of your pictures of your RedHawk revolvers!!

If you don't have a RedHawk that is ok, I would love to see any pictures you might have of your favorite Ruger DA revolver also.

This is my 44 magnum Redhawk - 5 1/2" barrel. I replaced the front sight with one that doesn't have the red insert - otherwise it's just like when I bought it in 1992. Tried an aftermarket Hogue grip but I like the stock grip better.

WoW That is absolutely beautifull.

My father has one just like it only in the 7.5 inch barrel configuration.

I want a Redhawk also but I realy like the 5.5 inch model.

I'm looking for one just like yours.

Beautifull man, just beautifull.

Personally, I like the 5 1/2" model because it's easier to pack and I like the front sight and rear sight being closer together - easier to focus on both (more or less) and I shoot that combo better, surprisingly enough to some people.

wwsnyder , do you like your grips? I have Pachmayers on mine, and they are better than factory for me but a bit chunky. I tried Houge, but the finger grooves didn't fit me. I am still looking for something better.

For both beauty and function Im a little partial to the factory grips.

My father has a 7.5 inch RedHawk that his brother-in-law borrowed once and put pachmayer grips on it. I fired the revolver a few times set up this way but just couldn't get used to the size of the whole thing and was never a very good shot with it.

Then on opening wekend a couple weeks ago I went home to hunt with my dad. Wile digging for my 7mm magnum handloads, that Mom had moved around and inadvertently hidden while cleaning, I stumbled apon the original grips for Dad's old RedHawk. So I replaced the rubber grip with the factory ones and took it out to the range.

Wouldnt you know the revolver was a completely different animal. It handled better for me and put the shots right on the bull. I could even do pretty good with it one handed (not advised though). They made it much easier to reach the trigger for double action shooting and gave the rest of my fingers plenty of room for the pistol to recoil without hitting my knuckles or any other ill side effect.

I guess every one is just different and my particular hand build, while very large, does better with grips such as the original RedHawk.

As an added bonus those wood grips on a stainless revolver are absolutley beautiful, and when combined with a 5.5 inch barrel make for a strikingly elegent and balanced looking package.

I think Im in love with revolvers.

Mine came used with Pachmayers on. They indeed were a little large. Then I tried the stock wood grips. I like the Butler Creek grips best, they are soft enough to take much of the sting from recoil and they provide a firm grip. I like them a lot.

I never tried the Butle Creek version before. I guess perhaps one day when I get a 5.5in Redhawk of my own I will have to give them a try.

Thanks ww. If the pachmayrs were a little large for you, as me, I may give Butler Creek a shot.I saw the at Gander Mtn. yesterday but they were in a blister pack, so I couldn't hold them. For $17 I think I will try them.

And I bet if you carefully cut into the package to open them, Gander would take them back if you didn;t like them.
