I really dont know much about AR15's but i would like to buy one. What is the price range for good ones. Im looking for like a M4 style set up. Carbines have always seemed cool to me. I dont want to spend a fortune as times are tight. All recomendations welcome.
If you go with a Stag which is a great setup I think you can do it for about $700. If you decide to build a carbine yourself you could do it for less.

You'd pay $500 for a Glock. How is $700 expensive for a high quality assault rifle?
If you buy used, you can find them for closer to $600.

B/t $7-800 is accurate for a basic carbine. The initial purchase is the cheap part; just wait until you add accessories. Now that's where it gets expensive.
Im about to make my first AR purchase as well. I finally ran into a good dealer at a gun show. He had basic DPMS's starting in the $670 range. The one I'm looking at has a telestock and is lined, should be right about $750. DPMS and Rock River both seem to be in the $700 ish range, Colt and Bushmaster, add about 200-300 to that.
My top 2 would be Bushy or RRA.
I picked up a used Bushy for $600. I'm building an RRA, so far i'm ~$250 into the lower- US prop marked w/ RRA 2 stage trigger and 6pos stock. Looking to pick up a 24" varmint upper and an entry tac upper.

If you buy a Bushmaster you're going to have to replace the trigger if you want a decent pull. It's their only real shortcoming, otherwise they're as good as they get.(I'm REALLY picky about good triggers.)

If you don't feel you want to tackle assembly, then do what I did. New DPMS lowers run about $200 complete. Combine that with a CMMG upper and you have a gun with the nice specs (4150 MP'd 1/7 chrome lined barrel, F marked FSB, T marked upper) for about $725. Or spend a about $325 to get a RRA lower with the NM trigger and really go for it.
