View Full Version : Stock Spare Parts or Roll the Dice
I have never had a parts failure or malfunction with any of my AR's. After a shooting session I always clean and lube them but firearms are mechanical devices and they will break sooner or later.
Do you guys keep a small inventory of spare parts or just wait until something breaks/fails?

I have a bunch of crap for all sorts of firearms on hand. However, it seems like when I need something, it's never what I have on hand.
Unless you have about every part in a LPK for an AR, then there'll be something you don't have...if you know what I mean.
USMCsilver - That's one of the reasons I have more than one AR.

Yeah, me too. That's exactly the reason I have five 1911's. The best part is I have almost enough spares to build about 1.5 more. ;)
I"m trying to get some spare parts together also.
First thing I'm going to pick up is a spare, complete, bolt.
Yes, you need spare parts, and the know-how to replace the broken part. At the very least one day when you are bored you can build a new rifle. Part of the fun is collecting spare parts espesially for the M1/M14 battlerifle;f

Single greatest advantage of the AR over any other rifle is how easy it is to get parts. Don't pass that up.
best spare part to have is another lower. so you can build another:cool:

I have at least one complete set of internals, and multiples of high-wear parts for each system I field.

+1. I also stock extra springs (all of them), and a few bolt assemblies.

If I ever had to replace it in mine or anyone's AR, I stock a spare of that particular part.
